Ziex S/TZ-01
Since the falken 512's are so hard to come by I was wondering if anybody has feedback on the Falken S/TZ-01. I have P225/50R-17 in mind. They advertise these tires for light trucks and SUV,s but there are a lot tires like these that work fine on our rides.
Thanks for any info.

I've put about 1000 miles on a set of S/T Z-01s. I chose them because of the additional tire life warranty over the 512s, and the fact that they were available.
You will be going from a V rated (149 MPH) to an H rated (130mph) tire. For me, that wasn't a big problem. The more important number was the load rating, which was fine (can't recall at the moment, but you can look it up at www.falkentire.com)
They are GREAT in the rain. Can't speak to snow, as I only had one chance to play in snow, and that for only 100 yards (and I was making it slide on purpose, but it came out of the slide as soon as I wanted)
They are fine in dry pavement, not noisy at all, IMO. They sing less than the Potenza RE-92s did.
And even though they have a 420 treadwear number, I swear they're sticker than the RE-92.
As long as you understand the H vs. V rating, and are willing to accept that difference, I say go for it.
And the tread pattern is pretty wicked, too.

Has anyone else tried these tires? I'm seriously thinking about getting them because of the longer tread life than the 512's. I don't really need V-Rated tires. I don't race and I don't even think I've been over 110 mph in my car. With the floaty stock suspension, anything over 100 mph is just too scary. My only concern is traction. How good is the traction on some Ziex S/TZ-01's? I'm looking for a lot better traction than the craptenzas.

I have no complaints with the traction.
I'll bet, however, that few have gone with this tire, since it's a 'truck' tire, and H rated.
With the RE92s, I had to be careful in the rain. Now I have to be deliberate if I want to spin the tires. I can still spin them in the dry (love the 3.5!) but it takes more to do it.
