Pilot Sport A/S Owners...I need input (air pressure)
I've posted air-pressure threads in the past but I need to revisit the topic. I am only seeking responses from those of you runnng Pilot Sport A/S's (no offense to you fella's choosing to run other mfgrs. rubber). Note: I am specifically seeking your input if you are running 225/50-17 Pilots on stock 02' GLE wheels.
Bottom-line question: "What exact air pressures are you running F & R in your Pilot's?"
Now that I am beyond the break-in period (have ~1100 miles on mine) the treads are coming into their own but...it sure seemed to take longer than I expected. Anyway...I've ran everything from 31 - 45 psi in various weather/driving conditions and I seem to have settled on 34.5 (F) and 33 (R) based on my driving style, comfort, noise, etc.
My mechanic (decent guy) on the other-hand is suggesting I run "mfgr. psi max -10%, give or take a psi here and there" and wants to see me run a higher psi. That would put me in the "45 psi range" if I followed the recommendation. As an aside the Nissan spec for a 215/55-17 Turanza on a GLE is 32psi F/R. I'm looking for help from seasoned Pilot owner's to determine where to take this.
Last comment, anything over 40psi does not produce the handling/ride-quality I desire (personal bias) but...if extended tread-life and performance are enhanced, I will make the trade-off and boost the psi.
Thanks in advance.

on 34.5 (F) and 33 (R) is great pst for 225-50 -17 did you know that se and gle has the same wide on rims 7inch and only diffence is the offset that does not matter in tire size.nissan just bigger tire in se .
NYC TAR "...did you know that se and gle has the same wide on rims 7inch and only diffence is the offset that does not matter in tire size.
32(F)/31(R)- in Florida heat... Incidentally, I've had mine about two years (roughly 30K miles) and I'm replacing them as we speak. Great tire... Enjoyed them, but plan on saving a few clams this time around. $1,100.00 and the center tread wear is already down to 2/32??? I find this quite odd, as I've never run them above the pressures just defined. I just thought I would through that at you. Happy drivin'.
