18 x 7.5 = what tires?

RIght now im looking at 18" exel radius's and are 18 x 7.5, and i am just wondering what tires would fit them? Im looking now at 225/40/18s but not sure if it is right (dont know a whole lot about tires and rims) also what is our bolt pattern? they have 4x100, 4x114.3, 5x100, and 5x114.3 Please respond, thanks

7.5" on 18" is kinda skinny. I wouldn't go wider than 225 for fear of rolling the lip in a hard turn. 18x8 would be better so u can run 235 safely. 5x114.3. Got pics of the rims?

http://www.wheelmax.com/Wheels/exel/exel.htm they are the 33rd ones down (exel radius gunmetal) So 225/40's fit good with 18x7.5? and these rims are really skinny, is that bad or good or what?

There's no problems w/using skinny tires. youll have better rain traction.
My bro bought Exel Ennio 18x8 and runs 235/40-18 Sumitomo HR+ on his 2k Max. I'd take a pic but he's not home and it's raining out.

what I wanna know is how many people are actually running 235 40-45 18 on 7.5 rims. I'm currently running 225 40 18 parada spec 2s on enkei rpm2 7.5 rims. I would love to know whos running 235's and if they have problems or not.

i had kumho 712 235/40-18 on 18x7.5 rota subzeros. 235 were definitely fat to the point where it was bulging with 38psi cold, about 40pis hot for the fronts (rears were fine with 36psi). I needed to put more air in the tires to make the most of the tread, but max psi was 40 I think. So from experience, I wouldn't do this again.

Since then, I've traded those rims/tires.

Jae

amendment: what's interesting is if you go with 17x7.5, 235-45-17 tires are usually ok on 7.5wide. Weird huh?

I'm currently running 235/40/18's on my Racing Hart Evolution C5s. I haven't had any problems. I frequently take hard corners and the grip is perfect. I have no problems with them.

You should be ok w/ 235s if you want to go w/ wider tires.

Wider tires = more grip

I'm running 235 on 7.5. No problem here. There is a little bulge, but nothing serious. Tirerack does recommend 235 tires.

Approved Rim Width
225/40-18: 7.5-9.0
235/40-18: 8.0-9.5

Wider's not better... not in the case of rain. But you can cheat by overinflating your wide tires and shrinking the contact patch.

I've taken a ruler to measure contact patches on my 225 wide Azenis sport and find them just as wide as 235 wide Kumho ECSTA MX. The Azenis are known to have stiff sidewalls, whereas the Kumhos "give" due to their rounded edges.

Hmm. After reading this I think I will go with 225/40/18 instead of 235/40/18 for my 18x7.5" wheels.
