ContiPremierContact

I just got a set of ContiPremierContact. 225-55-17. Local tire shop maptched www.tirerack.com price and got them installed. So far so good. Tires fit well - no rubbing, enough clearence on all angles. Nissan dealer said should be no problem.

I test drove them on local roads, asphalt and concrete interstates. Ride is quite good, quiet, handling is great. Tire rated at 80k miles 600 A A, so should last a good wile. 3 year free replacement warranty and 30 day free trial.
I will post updates later on.

Well, it just rained and I went driving around to see what I can expect...so far so good. The grip was good, no slips in corners.
I wish I could test them in snow, but it all melted.

On a related topic - I am getting slight vibration in the steering wheel between 60-67 mph. Under 60 ok, over 77ok. I went back to the tire place and they rebalanced, but it still vibrates. Any suggestions?

-- Went back to rebalance AGAIN - and they said that last time they rebalanced only front ones (!) .. did the rear ones and found a bad tire. Hopefully this solves it.

Hmmmm....not sure how much a rear tire would affect the steering wheel. Let us know if that, in fact, helped. This might sound like a silly question, but does it do it all the time (like while driving on many different roads) or is this on the same stretch during a commute or something? Just trying to eliminate possibilities like road surface, etc.

A bad tire? Can you elaborate? Does this mean one wasn't balanced properly or the tire was defective in some way?

They said it was out of round, so had to be raplaced.

====UPDATE-----
After they replaced one rear tire, still got the steering wheel vigration. Decided to call Continental to see if I can go to another dealer to get them rebalanced, as this dealer seems unable to get it done right. Got a guy from Conti that was totally uncooperative, pretty much telling me to deal with the dealer myself. Hung up, dialed again, got a very nice lady that asked me for the dealer name, got the Owner on the phone and told them to start replacing tires until they get it right. So I went back to the tire shop. It took them 1.5 hr and 8 tires later they said they finally got it. Indeed, ride is perfect, no vibration, very quiet, grips well in hard rain. The guy who did the final balance said that Maximas are really sensitive in the balancing and do not tollerate what other cars do.......no ****. In any case, I am happy with the tires, not happy that I had to visit the place 4 times and waist a lot time.
Basically, my advice is - if you are going to get these tires, try to find a local place that would match tirerack price just in case you have to go thru the same thing I did.
Conti is good tire and they have FREE road hazard + 30 day "test drive", if you don't like this set, you can always switch to ExtremeContact or another type.
Good luck
_______________ I will post updates after 5-10K on them.
