Hub rings are sometimes needed when installing aftermarket rims. The factory wheels that come with the car are machined to fit to the exact size of the hub. This centers the wheel perfectly on the hub, meaning greater wheel balance. But, with aftermarket rims, most are manufactured with a large hub space. If the hub space on the aftermarket rim is larger than the stock hub, the wheel will not be quite centered on the car. This puts stress on the wheel studs and you'll probably feel vibrations from your wheels at high speeds such as 60mph+. If you know the hub measurement of your aftermarket rim, then you buy the rings that will compensate for your factory size hub. Try DiscountTireDirect.com. That is where I bought mine. They are made out of aluminum which will last longer than most plastic hub rings.
