How much air?

I apologize before hand if this is a redudant question.
I got my first set of rims and tires put on about 2 months or so ago, so this is the only thing on my car I'm really over-caring about. I'm running 16x7 AR Tourings with BFGoodrich Comp T/A 225/55/16's. My question is how much air should be in the tires...the sidewall says a maximum of 44 PSI, and I checked all 4 tires today with my new 97 cent Wal-Mart tire gauge, and I got around 35 PSI on 3 tires and about a 34 on the rear driver side tire...how much air should be in my tires?

air pressure is kinda personal .....depends on how you drive and what you want performance wise.... less pressure makes the tire softer and ride better but you give up some handling.....more pressure makes the tire harder and ride harsher but cornering is better..... I run 36psi front and 34psi rear in my 225/50/16.... try a few diff pressures and see how the car drives..... I wouldn't go below 30psi or over 40psi (unless on the track) I run a few extra psi on the fronts since they support the powertrain...... alway add pressure if you are loaded.... 44psi on the side of your tire is for max load.....later
