Need advice on tires asap

I absolutely hate potenzas. Personally I think they are so unsafe they should take them off the market.
i have an 02 MAX with the 17 inch rims. Could somebody please give me some advice/options for tires??

Thank you,

Mark Lupiani

I got the Nitto 450's. The 555's are great spring, summer, and fall tires, but horrible in the snow. The 555's handle very well and are actually fine in the rain. The 450's stick pretty damn good on pavement, are excellent in the rain, and can be driven in snow. I've driven through 6 inches of snow with the 450's for about 10 miles and didn't come close to getting stuck once.

Nittos are awesome tires but don't grip as well as 512s on snow; only downside.

The Falken Ziex ZE-512 got rated #1 for overall all-season performance by Consumer Reports in November '03:

1. Falken Ziex ZE 512
2. Bridgestone Turanza LS-H
3. Bridgestone Potenza RE950
4. Michelin Pilot XGT H4
5. Dunlap SP Sport A2
6. Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus

I have the Bridgestone Potenza RE950 for my 16" stock wheels and they are great, but they aren't available in the 225/50-17 size, so I'll probably slap on the Falkens on my 17" stock wheels soon.

You can order them from Tires.com at $106 each with free shipping and bring them somewhere to get mounted. Or you can go to a local Discount Tire Company and get them for about $121 each which would include mounting and everything.

I'd go for the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S, but at nearly $200 per tire, that's too rich for my blood.

Peace.

I got the Kuhmo KH11's about 2 months ago and so far so good. The ride's a little bit rougher than with the stockers but the grip on pavement and in the rain is 1000x better. Dunno about snow since I live in GA but they're rated as "Grand Touring Summer" so they may not work well in the white stuff.

Also, they are one of the few tires offered in the stock size (225/50-17) and go for $98 on tirerack.com.

Pirelli PZero Nero M&S 235/45/17

Falken 512 - excellent tire but soft rolling sidewall.

Nitto 450 - not enough grip

Nitto 555 - not an all season tire and bad wet traction (I have these)

Kumho 712 - awesome summer tires, excellent cornering, cheap but noisy with jerky tramlining

Kumho KH11 - excellent reviews so far

Michelin Pilot Sport - awesome tire but EXPENSIVE

Wanli - CHEAP with excellent reviews, but new to market and treadlife and noise could be an issue.

I'm glad your getting advise.

I posted regarding Contential Extreme Contacts on 2k2 Max SE.
Can't get a reply.

I would consider the Falkens I've heard very good things. Good bang for the Buck.
