extending wheel studs
I noticed today that after getting new rims, the rear lug nuts do not thread completely onto the original wheel studs. There is about 1/4 inch of more thread needed for the wheel lug to fully encompass the stud.
first of all, is this a major concern? I know obviously i'll have to get extended studs, but I don't want my wheels falling off on the way back to school toda.
second, where do I buy wheel studs. They look like just normal looking bolts. What is the size and length that i should be looking for?

Generally 5mm spacers dont require longer studs. But if you want to put longer studs, all it involves is removing the caliper/mounting bracket, then remove the rotor. Then basically put an old bolt on one of the studs, just enough so that it wont fall off and bang it hard and it will pop the stud right out. Move to the next stud. Then put the new ones in. And basically use the bolt to bring the stud forward until it locks into place.

scary how i've been running this setup for 2 months already. I only have 5mm spacers in the back. The friend that sold me these rims said it won't fit in the rear without the spacers.
would it be safe to drive back to school (about 50 miles). either that or i'm going to hitch a ride back

general theory on the bolts is that if you have a 12mm bolt (i.e. wheel stud size), then you need 12mm of length INSIDE the nut.. so at 1.25mm thread pitch, that's about 9 threads absolute minimum.

How you figure that out? Did you go to a parts store and eye ball the OEM stud with whatever comes close to diameter but just longer? Would you happen to know the length of hte Mazda stud? This might be a cheaper option for those needing longer wheel studs.

They will fit all 4wheels. I got the same 60mm studs from Courtesy and I got them on all 4 wheel hubs. No problem. Except the rear you have to "notch" out the dust shield a bit so you can "clear" the 60mm stud to go into the hub.

It basically looks like the front, the way the front is pushed out (mainly due to clear my big brake kit) the back is the same now. Ive got a 1/2" spacer on there all the way around.
