17'' Tires.... what is the BEST option out there for 2000 SE

In it's simplest form... I need new tires! On the org I saw a kid selling his Bridgestone Potenzas Re92 w/10K miles on it for $200. I think that is a pretty cool deal. However when I went to tirerack.com and read the reviews from all the Maxima owners (probably from here) 9 out of 10 Bashed the TIRE, and well as Bridgestine. So now I am in conflict with myself... Can someone PLEASE recommend a good brand tire... I Don't want to spend a LOT of money.. probably want to buy them used.

I'm assuming you have the 17" wheels since you mentioned the RE92, and not the 16" wheels.

If you want good tires at a low price...

Discount Tire Direct:
Falken Ziex ZE-512 - $106.00 per tire
Nitto NT-450 Extreme Performance - $109.00 per tire

The Falkens were rated #1 for overall all-season performance by Consumer Reports in November '03.

Or if you want THE best...

TireRack.com:
Michelin Pilot Sport A/S - $193.00 per tire

You can get these at Costco too, although you might have to special order them.

But whatever you do, don't get the Bridgestone Potenzas RE92. Bridgestone Potenzas can be good (the RE950 is excellent), but not the RE92.

Good luck. Peace.

From the numerous threads in the tire section on this tire, Consumer Reports, and from personal experience, this is probably as the thread title states, the best option. All of this obviously depends on what you are able to spend of course.

Guys...dont forget the new Bridgestone Turanza LS-V's, now available in 225/50/17 and 215/50/17.

I removed my old Pilot A/S's because I could not stand their noise and harshness and installed the 225/50 Turanzas....they are huge -you can easily go with the 215/50/17 Turanzas and save some more $$$ over the Michelin Pilots. If you have not installed lowering springs, the 225/50's will fill the wheel well nicely, too.

Ride is awesome....quiet and buttery smooth -and their grip is phenomenal.
