Question re: tire size

I have a 95 Maxima SE. I had just gotten an old set of 16x7 wheels refinished (silver) and ready to be put on my car. I had forgotten what tire size I had used with these wheels before so I would like to ask the tire experts what would be a good size that'll fit this wheel? I'm looking into 55 series tires but not sure what is a good width that'll make the tire look slightly shorter than it really is, while wide enough for the wheel, and minimizes speedo changes.

Thanks.

Budget tires for now.

Well, I was opting for a 235/50/16 since this is a tire with the least overall size difference and speedo change from oem. However, I quickly found out that this size is only offered on expensive high performance tires, way out of the budget. I went to Just Tires and got a set of 225/50/16, Sava Rapidex R2 V-rated tires, for $287 out-the-door! I never heard of these tires before but from what I have been told, they are a Goodyear company, just been bought 6 years ago. I know Goodyear is a pretty good brand of tires, just not sure about Sava tires but for the money, I can't go wrong being that its V-rated and it's cheaper in price than Pep Boy's most cheapest quality of tires. Aside from that, I'm really not looking into driving really fast and aggressive, I just want a change-from-stock look and I think I have achieved it satisfactorily. Next, thing in the list are lowering springs, perhaps KYB's.

I've only been driving on these tires for 15 miles and so far it feels nice, traction is pretty good, but I know there's more to be discovered with these tires. Does anyone have any experience with these tires?
