Mastercraft Avenger LSR

Hi guys,

I'm tight on money and need tires. My local dealer has suggested buying Mastercraft Avenger LSR tires (the service guys all say they recommend these over the Craptenzas). They've got a 50k warranty on them, and are about $100 a piece.

Can anyone comment on these tires? Am I better off with a low end Falken? I just don't want to spend money now and have to do it again too soon.

I'm not really concerned with race performance, just a decent ride with good traction dry, and safer wet traction than these worthless POS Potenzas give. Even with HLSD, these OEM tires scare me.

Thanks,

Jack

My dealer suggested the Mastercrafts as well. I did some research and found that they are basically the same tire as Cooper Lifleliner SLE. They are made by Cooper, so that makes sense. The tread patterns on these 2 look almost identical. So you might want to research the Coopers. Anyone else have experience with either the Mastercrafts or Coopers?

Sorry to dig up an "old" thread, but I am curious as well. There has been little talk of the Mastercraft/Cooper tire in 225/50. As the falkens are on backorder (was told 30-90 days by NTB this morning), are these a viable option, or are they only slightly better than the never-popular RE-92's?

I have mastercrafts on my SE, the original owner had them put on the car before they sold the car. They seem to do pretty well. Havent had any complaints so far.

I emailed another user on Maxima.org who has the Coopers on his SE, and he gave me some very helpful information. Here is a piece of his email....

"We are at about 27k miles and wear is great. The did excellent in the snow last winter and do great in rain. The open tread that helps them in excel in those conditions has a downside of noise but honestly they are much quieter than those potenza at 20k miles. We are happy with the ride and performance. I will still stick with them except on the next set I might use the 2k2/2k3 GLE 17" size for additional sidewall for a slightly better ride."

So a good review overall. I am leaning towards these tires.
