Tire Questions....
I have had the stock blowtenzas for almost 20 000 miles now and they are in need of replacement, i dont have the money to buy rims too, so it looks like the stock size will have to do for now. I am looking at the Michelin pilot sport A/S, because i need tires suitable for all weather situations, Are these my best bet?, or is there a better all season performance tire for the max? Any input is apprieciated.......

Pilots are the best, no doubt. But make sure you bring alot of $$, they are not cheap.
If you want a cheaper alternative, the Falken Ziex 512's are great all-season tires...not quite as good as the Pilots in overall performance, but my W-rated 235/45/17's I just put on ran me only $400 for the whole set...I was very happy with my first set, but just destroyed 2 of them thanx to some highway debris, so I just replaced all 4 since they were getting low on tread anyhow...

I dont understand this, a lot of people complained about their Blowtenzas after hitting 20k miles on them. I used to tear mines up (flooring the car, racing, taking hard turns) and they still had more then 50-60% tread left at 20k miles. What are you guys doing to make them ear out so quickly?

I was happy when it came time to replace the Potenza's. I've got 48k on the odo. and I just had to change them about 500 miles ago. I replaced them with a set of 4 Nitto NT 450 Extreme's. Great tire so far and good price at around $100 each.

oxidizer: I had 2 sets of craptenzas die out on me in 9k miles. They do not hold up to high speed driving AT ALL. Not to mention that they have 0 wet traction even with 100% tread. They plain suck.
Wheelman03: If you drag race (and do burnouts) you can expect 30k miles. More if you are cautious and dont do burnouts. You should rotate them every 7500 miles, and inflate them to 38 front and 35 rear. That way, you will get AT LEAST 30k miles.
Irish: The warranty is against factory defects (extremely rare in the pilot line of tires) not wear.

I know how they suck.. Im just shocked you lost them at 9k! Me and my friend used to hit 110-20 all the time and they were fine... but not for a long time, a minute maybe, but I drove really rough on mines. I wonder if temperature has something to do with it wearing out quicker.

Well consider this, I used to cruise at an avg of 96 mph between orlando and miami for about 2:30 min or so. Also, I drive 25k miles per year (minimum). So I am constantly working them hard. The first set was almost to the cords in 9k miles. The manufacturer replaced them with another set. The second set I got 11k out of, but that was because I ran them at 38psi in front and 36 in rear, and got them rotated every 3750 miles. The bridgestone brand in general is typically like this. They make an OK tire but its not for the long haul.

A buddy of mine has the Pilot Sport a/s on his Max, I have Touranza LS-V's on mine. We've swapped cars several times to see the difference. Pilot sport has a definite edge in steering response and dry grip. Touranza's have a definite edge in road noise (or lack thereof), ride comfort and wet grip. Either one is an excellent choice. Decide your priorities and choose accordingly.
