My new Q45 rims **Pics**

Just picked these up. 15x7.5 37mm offset.

They are not BBS, but made by a company in Germany called ACT. Never heard of them. They still only weigh in at 15.5lbs! Not too bad. My I30t BBS wheels were 15x6.5 and weighed 14lbs. But these have a lip and will sit nice and flush in my wheel well.

I did a bunch of research before I bought these. I had never heard of 15x7.5 Q45 mesh style rims with that large of a lip. There are 15x7 BBS Q45 wheels that have the goldish/silverish spokes. These must have been a very rare dealer optioin.

I think another I30 owner (patrick) was going to put those same rims on his car. I don't know if he did or not though. You didn't buy them from him did you? Either way, nice looking rims, and nice weight. Since your stock rims are so light, and essentially the same design (I think), what made you want these? Width? Post some pics when they get installed.

Ahh so you found them and got ahold of them, eh Mike?

Nice weight, and it's awesome that they're 7.5 wide. Definitely gives you some more tire options.

After seeing Patricks I know I wanted them. I love the old school mesh style, like my current I30t wheels, but they were just to narrow and way to inset. I made Patrick some nice offers for his Q45 rims but he would not part with them. I am kind of glad he didn't now. His have the colored spokes which mine dont', and I think the lip on my is a bit bigger. I also paid much less than what I offered him for his.

It was the better offset, the big lip, and the extra 1" width that did it for me.

I will have pics in a couple days after I mount my tires. I am going to use the same 215/60/15 Potenza RE950's that I had on my stock rims.

Thanks for the comments guys!

Those came on the 1st gen Q-ship, right? I distinctly remmeber seeing them on a 1st-gen. I guess they serve your purpose, i just cant imagine going smaller than my 18s or stock 16s, much less 15s....

I don't know...I just started getting into old school smaller rims. I think maybe my brother had something to do with it when he put some very old school mesh wheels on his s13. I had 17's for a couple years and liked the looks, but everybody has 17's, 18's...

I really like the ride comfort of 15's and think that with the right style rims it's a good look. I know most would not agree with me, oh well. I do miss the looks of my 17's sometimes, but I think mesh 15's look really good on my car.

the cost of replacement tires is much easier on the budget as well.

I like the mesh wheels. I wanted some badly when I had my 72 510, but could never afford them at the time. If I had any kind of RWD drift type car (510, s13, Datsun 2000 roadster) I would get mesh rims for it.

95 Maxrider, are those RPM 2s or TSW Hockenheims? I would still consider those pretty old school rims. That design has been around for more than a decade.

Mike is right. Mine are BBS-made, his are ACT, but both are (I believe) forged. Mine do that a weird tint to the spokes that is difficult to describe. In the end, it is good that he has different rims because other than that, our cars look like black & white versions of each other.

I bought my Q rims for the same reason that he did- lightweight, wide, favorable offset, better tire options, and a custom look without going huge. Sure, they have no bling factor, but they are classy wheels.

I actually like Mike's spoke design BETTER than my own. Each spoke on his appears to have a more squared shoulder, wheresa mine have rounded edges. And he is right- he got a killer deal on those- about what I paid for mine, but he saved $40 on shipping. He had offered me more for mine than he paid for his, but the good news is now that we BOTH have what we want, and he saved some cash in the process.

From what research Mike and I did, these 15 x 7.5 rims were a dealer option, not a factory option. I was talking to Q owners, and mine definately came from a dealer package that was a part of the Q45a trim level. SOME Q45t also had these, but it was really rare. As a matter of fact, most of the Q45t that had dealer/manufacturer wheel upgrades actually had the same 15 x 6.5 rims that Mike and I have stock on our I30t models. (Almost ALL Q45 models came stock with a pie-pan alloy rim in 15 x 6.) Even many Q owners had not seen these 7.5" rims.

Mine were apparently a part of a premium dealer sport or visual package. I am not sure about the exact origin of Mike's rims, however.

Edit: Oh yeah, I downsized as well when I went to 15"s, btu the handling is not too far off, but the comfort is vastly improved.

These could even be off a J30. For some reason the white backround on the infiniti logo makes it possible. The seller did not actually take them off of a Q45, I think they just assumed so. I am trying to think of some ways to redo the center cap on these. I would rather it be black like my I30 wheels.

Anybody know tell tale signs of a forged rather than a cast wheel?

Mine say "FORGED," which clued me in. Look for any seams or edges where the cast might have been.

Try prying the center logo off after heating them with a heat gun or dryer.

Ok, got my tires mounted on the rims today. All I can say is that this is the look I always wanted. It looks soooo good. The stance of the car is much better. The offset and width worked out perfectly. I would have taken pics but it was already dark when I got home from work.

These look better than my 17's ever did.

Mine will be mounted by mid week next week. I got payment for my I30 rims, so I will be gettign tires as soon as I get a night off. Check your messages about the other interested buyer for mine- I sent him your way.

I am glad to see that they worked out for you. Can't wait to see pics.

That offset is PERFECT in the front. I may consider 5mm spacers in the rear, but those look SWEET!

I suck at posting pics sometimes. They would either big way to big (like they are now) or way to small. I just said screw it and left it like that.

The front is perfect, but the rear is still slightly tucked in. The wheels are 20mm further out than stock, I can't believe the rears still are like that! I may get spacers for the rear, but it really looks fine.

I think with your 7" wide rims the front wil be perfect because my front is ever so slightly sticking out, but your rear will be a tad more tucked than mine. It may be worth it to you to get spacers. I think you will need 10mm because 5mm would be perfect for my rear.

I am so pleased with the results

Thanks alot. Not bad for $175 I am finally completely satisfied with the looks of the car.....although it could be a tad lower. But I happy with the ride quality and don't want to mess that up.

I think the rims give my car that mid 90's BMW 5 series look.
