Opinions on Turanza LS-V's?

Opinions on Turanza LS-V's?

This is on my short list of choices for my Potenza replacements. Yes, I know they are Bridgestones and some people are bitter towards anything Bridgestone, but they do get outstanding ratings on Tirerack. Anyone have experience with these (especially interested in the "all season" aspect considering that we get the extremes of both winter and summer in Iowa)?

I put a set of LS-V's on my 2003 SE a couple of weeks ago based largely on the reviews at Tirerack. The ride and noise improved some over the orignal RE92's but not as much as I had hoped. The dry traction seems to be at least as good if not better. I can notice a little more side-wall flex in the turns which make it feel slightly less controlled in places like an expressway interchange. But in the end it hangs on every bit as well as the RE92's.

I can't attest to the all season aspect. I got caught in 2 huge downpours not long before replacing the worn out Potanzas, but now that I have new tires there is no rain in site.

I have 'em, I replaced Pilot Sports A/Ss with the Turanza LS-Vs in stock 225/50/17 size and they ROCK.....far, FAR better tires than the Pilots. Dry drip nearly as good, wet grip equal or better and lots, LOTS quieter and softer-riding.

The only opinion I cannot give u is snow traction...the only time it snowed here in the Willamette Valley (Oregon) since I got them I was out of town so....cannot comment on snow traction. I cant see how it could be bad with such good wet traction & their tread pattern...

I havent actually bought them yet, but the best price I have been quoted so far is $176 each, mounted and balanced. Still a little pricey!

Try these Pirellis If the 225/45/17 will fit my 17x7 SSRs, I'll be picking up a set soon.

Although on a 5th gen, it would make the wheel gap even bigger, especially in the front. I don't know if I want to go that route, since I don't have any immediate plans to lower the car.

How is the handling with the Turanzas? Many, many reviews say that they are much softer compared to the Potenzas Re92.....forget the Pilot A/S. What is your experience? How do they handle corners? How is the body roll with them?

Thanks!

I haven't seen any rain since I got mine a few weeks ago, so I can only comment on dry handling. I think the sidewalls of the LS-V's do flex more in the turns than my RE-92's did. I only notice it in places like highway entrance ramps and interchanges. It makes the car feel slightly less controlled in those situations, but the tires actually grip at least as well. And traction off the line seems much better. The softer tire wall does improve the ride some, but not as much as I had hoped for. If you don't want or can't get the Falkens. I think the Touranza LS-V is one of the best all-season options available in a 225/50/17.

Going what I remember from the Potenza RE92s (remember, I had the Pilots in between the Potenzas and the Turanzas so....this is all relatively hazy by now), at equal pressures the turn-in and immediate response on the Potenzas is perhaps a bit sharper than the Turanzas -although the ultimate grip from the Turanzas is better.

That's in the dry.....in the wet there is no comparison...the Potenzas were like a bowling ball on a recently-oiled lane wheras the Turanzas grip tenaciously -as good or better that the Pilots.

If you are accustomed to & like that sharp turn-in, run the Turanzas to 35-36 PSI and I bet they will still ride softer than the RE92's
