03 GLE tires 215/55/17 vs 225/50/17

03 GLE has stock 215/55/17 versus the SE w/ 225/50/17. The selection of 215/55 sucks. I can find only a few to choose from, either really cheep or really expensive. I need to replace the 2 front tires. My question is can I go to the 225/50 with out any problem. If I do that, do I need to do all 4 or can I just do the 2 front? Thanks for the help.

Did you check here? Under Rims and Tires, to see if there was any useful info?

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=36867

Btw, the selection of 225/50/17 sucks too... I have 235/45/17 tires on my stock rims... no problems thus far....

As for just doing the front 2, I'm not sure, but it seems to me that it'd be fine... just don't take my word for it.....

I checked there, but I couldn't find if I can just switch the front wheels with out switching the back.

I see.... sorry... I can't help ya there... just wait and see if someone else has an opinion....

I'm really thinking that it'll be okay to switch just the front though...

you could do that if you wanted.... but i would never only change two tires anyway... as a rule of thumb i always change all 4, the 225/50/17 are really close to the 215/55/17 stock size...
