Who's 225/55/17s Should I buy???
After 62,500 miles on my Continental ContiTouring Contact CH95s I am ready to buy another set of tires. I was going to order another set of tires from the Tire Rack but I took a look at the reviews on my tire and I was really surprised how many people slammed the CH95. I got fantastic service and really enjoyed the softer ride that the 55 series tire provides, especially since I spend a great deal of time on the road (I'm up to 133k miles on my 01).
Before I fork out the money for another set of tires, I would like to hear from everyone who is running 225/55/17s on their Maxima and what experience they have with their manufacturer.
Thanks in advance!

Wow 62K miles on a set of tires? I am going to check those out. Sounds like you would be looking for the safest tire in wet conditions since you travel a lot? IS your budget pretty flexible? Give us a little more info.

Since its after Christmas, I'm trying to stay around $100 per tire. I bought these tires 2 years ago for $80 each (+shipping) and I feel like its the best deal I've had on a set of tires for a LONG time. Tire Rack has a set of CV95 (VR rated) for $79 each (plus $11 shipping) so I'm leaning towards those tires, but I wanted to hear what the "board" has to say.

I have the falken ziex 512's. They're a good tire but if you're on the road alot, they won't last. I've only got about 25k out of them so far & it's time for new tires. If you're shopping at tirerack, check out the yokohama avid h4's. They have a 60k warranty from the manufacturer. My buddy works at discount tire & thats what he's using on his car. I had to replace the poortenza's & now the falkens after a year. All of my other tires lasted at least 2 yrs. By the way, the Avids aren't directional so you should get a quiter ride.

Tire life all depends on how you drive.
I survived 32k with the crapotenzas.
Then I had my pirelli pzero m+s for almost 40k but I went racing 2x
and spun alot. And I take turns just about as fast as I can without making
the tires scream. I just put on the Falken Ziex 512's last week. We'll see how long they last. FYI, I have 235/45/17's.

After about 4 hours of tire reseach tonight I am definately going with the Goodyear Comfortread. They have excellent ratings in every department and seem to be by far the most quite and comfortable passenger tire. I am not really into cornering fast (the max's suspension is completely inept anyways) so I am going for comfort and security.
They are definately not $80 a piece but if that is what you are looking to spend just go buy some cheap tires. There is no point to being selective when you are only going to spend $80 per tire. You get what you pay for and there isn't a tire company around that can produce an excellent tire for that price (they could not afford to). IMO if you want to be selective you need to get into the $110-$150 range per tire. I don't mind spending $150 on a tire because it is the only part of your car that touches the ground and it is a fact that tires are the single most important part of safety on the road.

The only other thing you should consider is the speed rating. If the state you live in has a vehicle inspections, then you may need to install VR speed rated tires instead of these HR rated Goodyears.
