Rims bad for winter?

Is it a bad idea to put on rims for the winter? What are some possible damages which can occur.. I'm trying to see whether it's really a big deal or not so I can decide whether to put my rims on this week or just wait out the winter. The rims are 18" Enkei's.

Thanks.
Dan

Wrong forum.

How much snow do you get in VA? Do they ever salt the roads?

They sand the roads, no salt I believe. We just got about 2 inches of snow here today. Is it possible the finish on the rims can get messed up.. the new kumho all season tires which I bought with the rims should be exponentially better in snowy conditions, I have some crap tires on right now, don't even recognize the brand. Slipped several times on the way home from school today, but I guess that's normal.

I'm just mainly concerned with my rims getting damaged.

Those tires arent that great in the snow, ask me how i know. And I'm gonna wait as well because major potholes appear after they plow the roads and the temperature warms up a bit. Id wait till springtime shows up to put your nice new shoes on.

the 2 main reasons you wouldnt use your larger wheels in winter are the sand/salt and the fact that most low pro tires have an 'NA' rating for winter driving.

if you have all season low pros, and the only sand the roads, you should be ok. i would really advise against using them if they salt, cuz any surface scratch or anything like that will get eaten at by the salt.
