those are pretty interesting...

i read a while back about some guy inventing tires that last longer than the life of a car but according to the article, he was bought out by major tire companies and the design was buried as it would take away so much business.

those things are pretty ugly but if they never go flat and have other benefits, the looks don't really matter.

not sure, but i do like the idea that accidents caused from front blow outs might be reduced if those tires go mainstream.

it looks like during high speed cornering you would get the same effect as the sidewall rolling over.

I thought they looked pretty cool, especially when rolling, but that's just me.

If the tire 'spokes' are stiff enough, I bet there is very little 'sidewall' flex, therefore more precise cornering.

Those tires are very weird looking. However that car is lacking tread on the tire, think about the grip when the road is wet. Pose a potential danger.

There is still a tread face. It's just everything else that's different.


I wouldn't hold my breath for these. This is still in the development phase and it's going to be YEARS until this becomes a practical option for the average consumer.

I like the design and the whole idea, but would definately cover them up with some rubber (cosmetically)

I'm of the opinion that they left the sidewalls open just to show off the technology. Any real world use of those tires without sidewalls and there goes the balance if you go through any mud or snow, for example.

This is one of the coolest pictures. Is it me or does it look like the rear tire is elongagted; like there is more tire below then above the tire?
