those are pretty interesting...
i read a while back about some guy inventing tires that last longer than the life of a car but according to the article, he was bought out by major tire companies and the design was buried as it would take away so much business.
those things are pretty ugly but if they never go flat and have other benefits, the looks don't really matter.

I wouldn't hold my breath for these. This is still in the development phase and it's going to be YEARS until this becomes a practical option for the average consumer.

I'm of the opinion that they left the sidewalls open just to show off the technology. Any real world use of those tires without sidewalls and there goes the balance if you go through any mud or snow, for example.
