picked up some new wheels

I have not started a thread in sometime now but I thought I would share. I picked up a set of Kosei K1-TS in light grey. They were very well priced for being 17X8 and only 15.5 lbs. Doubled checked the weight and it checked out. They also use a method similar to forging which they call super forming.
A sticker on the wheel stated the rim and spokes were roll forged so hopefully durability will not be an issue.
I did away with the red valve stems as you can see on my cardomain site.

The weather was real nasty in Charlotte so I did not bother cleaning or going for the beauty shot. My last wheels were around 20lbs so I have lost a good bit of unsprung weight and its noticeable.
Just wanted to pass this along as well as bypassing the ac compressor and testpipe, the car feels great in these temperatures.

i got them at wholesale price from tirerack which i think i heard is the only importer of kosei. tirerack lists them for 239 and i got them for south of that.
the garmin i have is a GPSIII plus but i was getting the point where i was not using it very often so i put my xm radio (christmas gift) in place of it. it is very easy to use and a nice gadget to have.

i saw those wheels listed as well. they do look very similar but didnt seem to offer the same quality in build and were only in 17X7. they also weighed in around 18 which would not have been enough to trade out the konigs. if someone wanted a rim that was the stock size and a few pounds lighter than stock then it might not be a bad wheel at all.

Those rims are nice. If I didn't have mine, I would be all over some of those. I like gunmetal and it gives your car a real stealthy look.

I have some 17x7 Centerline RPMs that are 13.5 lbs each. I really noticed a difference in mine, too. Before having them, I never really gave much thought to lighter rims, I just went by the look of them. From now on, if I go to buy aftermarket rims I am going to make weight a big consideration.

I like some of the Kosei wheels...would be cheap & light for autocrossing.

i think weight comes first then looks for me. when i bought my konig prophets they swore the wheel did not weigh more than 18lbs but after konig posted on their site and i weighed them, it was closer to 21.
thats not me throwing up the signs, its another one of our outstanding members, haha.

heavy wheels can also have negative affects on braking along with acceleration. one reason why i wonder no one upgrades the brakes when they throw on some 20"+ wheels. i was thinking that if i had the 3.5 that i might not worry as much about weight but the effects would be just as beneficial.
