Im Losing My NUTS?!?
Im Losing My NUTS?!?
Hey guys, I just put on a set of 18" kosei double racer's
on my 4th gen, and I used these
nuts.
I also pust a set of spacers on but, I forgot the size.
The problem that I am having seems to be that the lug nuts are loosening after driving.. and Im not talking about long trips, but just 2 miles. any Ideas?
here is a draw up of the specifics of the nuts..

What size are the threads on those lugs?
a 1/2-20 lug will screw onto our studs and you can get some torque on them, but they pop loose pretty quickly.
(you should have 12 x 1.25mm lugs).
Also, do the wheels have a lot of powdercoat on the lug mounting faces and the rear hub surface? If so, then that can cause them to lose torque fairly quickly as well. the last set of track wheels I had came with a bunch of powdercoat on the faces of them.. they had to be retorqued every lapping session for the first few events. I'd park the car with the hot brakes and immediately torque them down again.. you could see the melted powdercoating oozing out between the brake rotor and the wheel mounting surface.
on the stud mounting faces, I just took a lug and stuck my impact wrench on it and just turned it at full speed until it melted the powder out of the holes.. once all that was done, I didn't have any problems with it.
