Light, inexpensive 20" wheel

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a 20" wheel. I dont want to lose power (or at least minimize the loss) so I want a light reasonably priced alloy (similar finish as the stock).

Preferably, 5 or 6 spoke.

thanks,

Light, 20" and inexpensive do not go together. Maybe used would be the only way. But to get a 20" wheel at the same weight of the stock 18", is going to be difficult to do cheap.

I was thinking the same thing -MO-. in cardomain you would find this car to be familiar... this car has a 3 piece wheel in 20's, nice huh.. well they go for 4500, very expensive...

yeah man, cheap and light dont even go together, let alone 20s. unless your idea of cheap is different than ours, its not gonna happen. to give you an idea, the 19" SSRs that i wanted were 3 piece, weighed 24 lbs, and were $474 a wheel. lightweight BBS wheels, at 18 lbs for an 18 wheel, are $638 a rim.

so you basically gotta choose between the 20s or 18s/19s. for you to fill a niche demand like you want, you gotta go with something like Tek Niq posted, which is NOT cheap to anyone on this board.

Hmmm, what exactly do you guys mean by a 3 piece wheel?? I am by no means rich so I am pretty sure I wont find what I was looking for in my price range.

I am curious though, roughly how much power do you lose going to a bigger wheel?? What about stopping distance?? I think I heard somewhere that you need to get bigger brakes not necessarily because of the extra weight, but because of the extra rotational inertia needed to overcome to slow the wheels from spinning.

Any help?

a 3 piece wheel are the lightest wheels. you have the spokes (1st piece) the outer wheel portion (2nd piece), and the rivets and steel piece used to connect the two together (3rd piece). these are much more expensive then regular wheels, but are strong and light.

it is a very good idea to use bigger brakes when upgrading wheels that much. but the 6th gen maxs have 18s on them, going to 20s is not much of a jump. just like us 5th gen guys going from 17s to 19s. if you were making a jump from say 16s to 20s, i wuold recommend a brake upgrade, and for all those guys going from 16s to 22s or so with SUVs, a brake upgrade is almost required. your stoppint distance shouldnt be effected too much. the "power loss" will be dependent on how much the rims actually weight, but you will definitley feel it once you switch to the 20s.

'nuf said...Oh, and multi-piece does not = light. They can be just as heavy as a 1pc cast...
