255/45/17, are they too big

Hey all, from the posts I have been reading, I think I know the answer, but I want to see what the rest of you think.

Are 255/45/17 to large of a tire for 17x7 or 17x7.5 wheels????

Any oppinions/experiances???

Please post up
Thanks
O

1) Go to the tire's website and research the recommended wheel widths for that size
2) Go see the stickies and see if that size is correct to keep the speedometer correct.

Not brain surgery here.

255 on a 7 wide rim is definitely overkill.....as for 7.5...i've seen it done before but it definitely doesn't look right and is overkill as well....

why do u want to run such wide tires? especially why do u want to run them on such narrow rims? well if u really want 255 that badly...i suggest 8.5 wide is what u need....anything below that would look weird....and the rim won't support the tire's width
