Does wheel brand matter?

Hey, I'm thinking about buying some new rims and am looking at a few different brands, including Moda, Mille Miglia, and a few others. I was wondering if the brand of wheel makes any difference, to me all the wheels look good so...I am wondering if the cheaper ris have a higher tendency to bend and crack as opposed to more expensive ones and also what is considered a good quality. I am specifically looking at some Moda R6's and was wondering if I should get em. Any input is appreciated!!!

No, but cheaper rims are usually heavier and have to get thrown out when they get damaged. Most expensive rims are 2 or 3 piece and can be fixed easier if they get damaged.

Some do. You get what you pay for. Sometimes, you are just paying for name.

If all you are after is the look then the name doesn't matter. If you're after the look and prestige the name does matter. If you're after the look, prestige, weight, strength and brake clearance then the name really matters. Ask yourself if you want a 14 pound 17x8" rim that looks d@mn good and is really strong. If you want all that you need to stick to the high end rim companies like Volk, SSR, BBS, Work, etc...

x2 but either way get them authorized with a warranty. i bought some rs limiteds off of ebay never heard of them until i bought them. but after a year the chrome started bubbling, cracking and peeling. now i don't know if it was rechromed and sold as new or they were just cheaply made but i also hit a pothole and bent and cracked a rim so i'm thinking they were cheaply made and are a sh!tty brand but i replaced them with some nice silver mille miglia mms from tirerack on sale for 189 each 18x8s and i bought some kumho ecsta asx tires at sears but i don't particulary like the tires, my sumitomo htrz2s that i had on my other wheels definitely were stickier and had better cornering skills.

If you get crappy wheels like many people have on these boards, you'll want to replace them at some point. But if you get some nice, good quality wheels, they'll keep you happy forever.
