Toyo Proxes 4 a good choice @ 215/55/16?
Toyo Proxes 4 a good choice @ 215/55/16?
From what I've been reading it sounds like they're a good choice period, but I was curious because I read a description somewhere where it said they were primarily designed for plus fitment applications.
I want to keep my stock rims & find a same sized tire as I have now (215/55/16), and was wondering if the Proxes 4 would be a good choice or are they more suitable for larger rimed or more aggressively minded cars?
I have some new or fairly new Pirelli P6000 Sport Veloce tires now (were on the car when I bought it) but they seem to be producing a nice little wobble at low speeds and are giving me balancing problems. I don't feel safe on them, and have decided (whether they're new or not) they gotta go.
I basically want a good to great performing all season tire that is fairly quiet, comfortable, and gives me the confidence and the ability to drive safely rain or shine. Being able to burn around a corner and not end up in the rhubarb would be a bonus too.
Are the Proxes 4 where it's at or should I be looking for something else?
Thanks for any input you can give me.

My 512's are wearing down pretty quickly and I'm very near the tread wear bars. I got the 512's back in April 2002 at 72,993kms. I'm now at 111,000kms.
Well, I'm going to read up some more reviews on Tirerack for other options.
Already I have one that caught my eye and that are the Fuzion ZRi's.
"This is a new brand spin-off from Bridgestone made for sports cars and coupes, and in tests, the Fuzion doesn’t finish far behind the Avon Tech M500, with controlled handling and a sporty feel."

Great link & reviews, thank you for providing it. Perhaps I'll do a little more research before I pull the trigger on the Proxes. Better to learn about all my options, than to simply jump on something based solely on unresearched mass appeal.
I am curious to know which one you'll settle on. Keep me posted.
Thanx again

Toyo Proxes 4 are a good choice but you may also want to check out Continental ContiExtreme. My brother has them on a 2001.5 VW Passat 2.8 4-motion and has nothing but good things to say about them. They handle great and wear doesn't seem to be an issue (no excessive wear that is).

For my stock rims, i have the conti extreme. Excellent in the winter. Very little tread wear. And all i can say is that with out them i would have not made it through the winter.
