if we keep the TPMS attached to the tire what happens?

How does this TPMS thing work?

It monitors tire pressure and sends the data to a sensor under the dash somewhere, which is hooked up to a display (I'm assuming with the rest of the gauges) to let you know the pressure. Nothing will happen if you keep the TPMS attached to the rim, you just won't be able to remotely read the pressure.

For instance, I had 2 TPMS's still attached to my 18's (had them there for a year). I just had new Exclaim UHP's mounted last month and had them remove and save the TMPS (can be resold on G35 forums). Never had a problem with them.

I'm going to bite the bullet and get 245/40/18 for my G coupe wheels. I desperately need tires, and want to go with a wider size, so if they rub a little I'll have to live with the consequences of that sacrifice for a wider stance. General Exclaims btw......these bishes better be as good as people say they are. Have a nice day.

^ The more accurate size for the speedo is 235/35/19... 245/35 is next best. It all boils down to personal preference. The 245 will give more traction and end up providing more sidewall than the 235.

sorry if I missed this but how much do the 19'' g35 rims by rays weigh with tires? I know theyre light but how light?

Reason I ask is b/c I had 6th gen max rims and I immediately felt they slowed me down...thats why I sold them after 2 months. Im hoping the same thing wont happen with the rays...

Yup, the 18's are definitely heavy mothers... The 19" Rays should be noticeable lighter, but I don't have an exact number. You can try over on www.g35frenzy.com or www.g35driver.com to see if they have it in stickies or someplace similar.

^ True, but lighter wheel = less rotational mass, and I don't think the combined weight of the air and 18" tires will be < the wright of air and 19" tires (of equivalent sizes).

I'm looking into the tein coilover set for my 99 se-L. Any idea how that drop will affect putting on the g35 17's or 18's.

Found a set of G35C 18s for cheap, but they do need to be painted.
I'm thinking of either gunmetal or hypersilver. Searched and didn't find any painted G35C rim threads except for irish44js with the Wurth Silver. Does anyone have a set that are painted a different color?

I am looking for G35C wheels in 18". Is this stamp in the lower right spoke the only way to tell if its not a knockoff?

Nope. Both OEM and knock-offs have that mark.

It's a self-certification symbol for Alloy Wheels sold in Japan and follows the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transportation guidelines.

The fakes are not as wide I believe. 7.5" vs 8". Might have diff offsets also. Check ebay for an example of a knockoff. I also read that one guy has a problem with a bbk fitment with a fake.

Well, in an attempt to ascertain authenticity, I have asked:

1) Are you the original owner?
2) What year G are they mounted on?
3) What size tires?

Isn’t there supposed to be a stamp on the hub of the wheel indicating 7JJ or 8J or some code looking similar to that? Or are the knockoffs showing 8, even though they are 7.5?

Its a huge issue to me as I have the Z32 calipers up front.

yeah, there should be a stamp on one of the spokes (inside of the wheel). I'd ask for a picture of the backside to show the width/diameter.

I'd also look at some ebay fakes to familarize yourself

OEWheels on eBay sells both the 7.5 and 8" wide replica's and the offsets are the same as the OEM's. The only noticeable difference is the replica has a much brighter paint finish. (which, unfortunately, is hard to tell on photos).

awesome sticky/thread!!

been stressing and posting in the 4th gen forums all day about G35coupe wheels i bought last night. paid 350 and they are slightly scuffed/marked here and there. they came with 4 falkien 245-45-18s on them with about 40% treadlife left.

i got some questions about them though......:

1) can i just put these on tonight and deal with the 5% innaccuracy until i can save up enough to buy 235-40-18s? its not gonna cause any permanent damage is it? what about to the tranny?

2) i was planning on taking the center caps off my 4th gen, 97 sawblades and popping them in, but after spending the past hour reading the 500+ posts on here i saw a bunch of people were having trouble and solved the problem by "hammering in the dust caps"
so, when i hammer these things, am intending to bend the sides where the teeth sit, or just push the whole thing back? anyone got a pic they could throw up? any words of wisdom? i dont wanna break anything....

3) i am concerned about the authenticity of these because of the sketchball seller i got them from. he was asking 900 originally and i talked him down to 350....that says something right there. there are a number of marks on the inside of the rims, but there is NO NISSAN STAMP. i read on page 3 or 4 that the G35c wheels should have this stamp. mine do not....anyone got a picture handy of the inside of a G35c alloy? did i get scammed ?(not that it really matters that much anyway)

also, i read that these 18 G35c wheels with 245-45-18s will sit flush with the front, but not with the back. should i get spacers to make them flush? what size?

thanks

1. You'll be fine. Just remember the speedo error when driving at higher speeds...
2. I can't comment on this, as I didn't use any centercaps. I did attempt to put them on and had to hammer them in until they wouldn't go in anymore, and they stuck out about 1/4" F/R. You could try to maybe dremel off a little bit on them, like 1/8" or so of the inner portion (but this may keep them from sticking in the wheels).
3. A very understandable concern. But, I can't comment on them as I don't have them.

If you want spacers, get 'em. You'll definitely need longer studs if you go with > 5mm (I would get longer studs with any spacers, IMHO). The fronts are flush and the rears are sunken in somewhat on a 5th gen, don't know abouth 4th.

You dont want to go "in". Meaning you dont want to smash a hammer on the face of the dust cover. You want to work the "sides" of the cover and "push" them in closer to the center. This is what I had to do with other rims.

I am still persuing my own set of G rims so I dont have "exact" knowledge of this specific fitment.

Can someone please take a straight front view of a 4th gen with G35 coupe 18" wheels. I would like to see how far they stick out.

Thanks

well, as i found out this past weekend, i do not have a "dust cover"

the front axel has this bolt that sticks out a good 3/4 of an inch from the G35 wheels...

the back has this brass dome/cap that is just a little too big to sit in the opening for the centercap

wtf?

I recently picked up a set. Is there a color difference on the brembo equipped wheels? (The 03/04 G coupes)

wow, I can't believe this thread is still going strong. I'm happy I started it way back when

Reminds me that I need to repaint my G18s again (I do it every winter while they're off the car and the G 17s are on the car).

I'm thinking of going with something darker this time. Already had original color, "hyper silver," light gunmetal, and the Werth silver. Maybe I'll black em out this time
