Wheels/tires Sticky? G35 wheels on maximas
just got them back
Alright I bought these 7 spoke 17 from a 05 sedan, took them to have them powdered 95% gloss black, and just got them back.

My real question is for irish. I see your center caps are black! Did u have to get them painted and those are 5.5 se? right? I would love to get some exactly the same.

I have G35 sedan 18's on my car and love them. They need spacers to be flush though. Here are pictures of them on my car at stock height and lowered on S-techs. I just put the s-techs on so the springs haven't settled yet.

Offset?
I know the specs for my 2000 SE 16" 5 spoke is 6.5 wide and 40 mm offset and the 7 spoke 18x8 G35 are 30 mm offset. I reading this thread and others (offset calc) and I's still confused of how the different offset and width will affect my setup. I'm not sure if i need spacers.
This is what I get from the offset calculator:
The clearance from stut housing to the inside of the wheel will be 9mm LESS
The outside edge of the wheel will EXTEND an extra 29mm
Thanks in advance.

^ you'll be very flush to the fender. no spacers required at all. Some people might not like the flush look. You got to keep in mind that these wheels were intended for rwd car which typically have low offsets.
how would 235/45/18 work with a 1.5" drop. I have 18" rays, and am in the process of getting new tires, i have 225/45/18 right now and they just dont look right, need a bigger tire. i was gonna get 235/40/18 but that wuld be even smaller.
read most of this thread,c ant find anything on 235/45/18 on the 350z ray rims. Tire calculator shows this to be closest to oem (thicker sidewalls too than 235/40) just wondering if they will rub? I plan on dropping the car 1.5 inch in a couple of months, and would like to avoid rolling feders

Hey guys, new to the site but you will be seeing alot of me. I've only made slight mods to my 03 SE, so I'll save the photo's untill I get things really going.
Here's my question. I'm looking at a set of 18" the size is:
18x8.5 32mm offset (front) Tires 235/40 18
18x9.5 35mm (rear) Tires 245/40 18
I've searched the site so far and have'nt found anyone yet with a staggered setup like this, succesful yet. Do you guys forsee any rubbing or noise at full turns, any poking out at the fenders?
Also I have a set of tein SS coilovers that will be installed at the same time to remove any significant gap, please direct me to the appropriate thread or any pics would be appreciated

I stumbled across this page and thought it could be helpful http://www.350z-tech.com/zwiki/G35_O...Wheel_Overview

Most people don't run staggered because it's pointless on a FWD car, and since our cars are front-biased in weight, you really need less tread in the back than in the front for a balanced handling setup. A few autocross guys have even run a reverse-stagger (wider in the front) for optimal performance handling, though it doesn't look very good.
Curious just put some G coupe wheels on mine today. They have some worn out 245/45/18 tires on them right now. I took it for a quick spin today I'm rubbing like crazy, really bad up front. I'm looking to replace them with 235/40/18s, curious with the drop I have now will I still rub. Here's the best pic I have:

Yes they will fit.. I have a 03 I35 with 18 Coupes and 235-40-18's.. No Rubbing at stock height.. I will be dropping my front with H&R's, but leaving the rear at stock height (swapping SE springs in).
Maxima.org family,
I sent this question to another member, but just in case he doesn't get it, I will ask so that everyone can chime in. I have been reading this post on wheels and tires as I need to get some new wheels on my 1999 GLE for the summer. I have had 2 sets of the wheels pictured in my post below
http://forums.maxima.org/showpost.ph...4&postcount=42
and wifey was skeptical for me to invest in another two wheels after my bending of 2 more of them last year.
With that said, from my post, you can see I have 245/40-R18 Pirelli tires. They are practically brand new (bent 2 wheels after having the tires for about a month). My car is lowered with my Tokico HPK245 springs (1.4 in FRONT / 1.25 in REAR). I have read the posts in this thread, but have not seen anyone saying that they did indeed try the 245/40-R18 tire combo with the G35 wheels (I am not sure of what this brother is riding though)
http://forums.maxima.org/showpost.ph...&postcount=598
I really need to get some wheels, and I feel like the G35's are the best choice the look I want. I did see stated that folks think the 245/45-R18 will rub in the rear. Will that be the same on the 245/40-R18 setup I have? I really don't want to waste brand new tires, and I really need some new wheels (going back to the factory 17's is still hard to fathom even after they have been back on for a year!) Please advise as I understand the 245 width is the issue. I'm just wondering if my 40 sidewall will help out and not rub vs. the 45 sidewall folks spoke about.
Also, please let me know if the wheel caps from my stock wheels will be an issue if I do go with these wheels.
Please don't take this as a pesky question, I just didn't see anyone validate my particular wheel setup with the G35s...

Does anyone know if the 17" Chrysler 300 rims would work on the 96 Maxima? I have a chance to get a set of the chrome ones fairly cheap. i know the lug pattern will work i'm not sure if the offset is correct or not tho.
Wheels? Tires?
Sorry, Doesn't have to do with G35.
Had more to do with finding out with the offsets that will work or wont work.
I happen to have a chance to get a set of rims off of a 300. I also have access to Hundreds of other rims that might work. I know what rims have the correct lug spacing, but am not sure about the offsets max or min that you have to have to not mess up the rims or suspension or car.

GOT MY G35'S...DOH!!!
Well, needless to say, I have been pinging various members asking about the tire size dilemma I faced. I had my chrome wheels before I got my new G35's today, and the tires I had on them were Pirelli P-Zero Nero's M+S, 245/40-18.I put them on the wheels and slapped them on MAXINE (1999 GLE), and that tire size, to me, is a no-go for these wheels (check pics below' sorry for the crappy night pics, just wanted to upload pics to help someone possibly not make the same mistake...)

Being that I am a member of the "one donut away" club, having 2 similar bodied folk in the back riding down the highway hitting a bump, in my honest opinion, would mean rub down of the rear tires.
I am going back to try and get 235/40-18's tomorrow...

after looking at MAXecutive, I may even go 225/40-18's...
yup, i think 225 will do me just fine. thanks MAXecutive!
for the g35's, it should give me the look similar to the look the 245/40-18's gave me on my chrome wheels...

Rode in to work this morning, doing about 70mph, hit a dip in the road and I heard "zzzzziiiiiiiiippppppp!".
So it has definitely been confirmed that 245/40-18 will rub with the G35 wheels on a 4th gen. Imagine if I had someone in the backseat....ooooooowwwwweeeeee.
Already placed my order for 225/40-18s and they will be put on by Friday...

Ok. For those running the G35 wheels on a 4th gen (1999 GLE), I got some center cap issues. The Nissan center caps that I have will not fit on the front or rear wheels. I bought the correct ones off of eBay, and they are legit Nissan OEM caps that have the the numbers 40342/AU510 printed on the inside of the cap. I tried to put them on the front axle and they would not go. I know about the rear axle issues with the dust cap, but I have not read of any issues with the front. Below I have pictures of my front axles, in hopes that someone can help.

My question is, aren't the fronts supposed to fit with no problem? I have the original axles on the car, and they stick out too much that the cap won't snap on.
Can someone show me pics of what their front axles look like without the cap on?
Also, can someone please show me what thier bashed in their rear dust caps look like in order to make the caps fit on? I need to make sure I do that right too.
Please help me as I am trying to get my car to presentable status. Riding with no center caps is real tacky...
