no...the maxima stock 17's are 42mm, IIRC, so they will fit about the same.

For those interested, I managed to stick a 240/40/17 tire on the G35 17's..

I have the coupe rims so there staggered... I put the rears in the front(17x8) with 245/40/17s and the 17x7.5 in the rears with 225/45/17.

the 245's look really nice, and its much more sensitive than it was before(switching lanes is a breeze now)...

I dont know if anyones done this with these so thought i'd post the info.

 

I have the 17" '05 G Sedan wheels on my '89 Max, and they fit reasonably fine. Like I mentioned earlier, there is a tiny, tiny bit of rubbing that I notice when I turn the wheel to either extreme, but I am sure there is a simple way to get rid of it - just haven't had the time to make any adjustments. I'm sure they will fit well on later model year maximas.

 

Okay, anyone know if 19" Infiniti M35/45 wheels will fit a 5th Gen Maxima?

Here's a bit of a stupid question,

What is the difference between Bolt Pattern 5/114.3 and 5/4.5? Will 5/4.5 fit 4th gen?

I'm trying to figure out if 18" M45 rims will fit my 98. Has anybody tried to use M45 or FX45 rims?

5x114.3 (in millimeters) is the same as 5x4.5 (in inches).
The bolt pattern of the 2 cars is the same, though that may not mean the wheels will fit due to offset, width, etc.
It's almost a given that either set of Infiniti wheels will fit your Maxima, but for the 20" FX wheels, tire shopping may be a bit pricier.

FWIW, some cars have 5x115 bolt patterns (Chrysler 300, among others) and there's always someone managing to cram 5x114.3 wheels on them, with bad long term results. I mention this in case you (or someone else) come across a set of nice looking 5x115s and consider them thinking "what's the difference?"

man these things are expensive. I was considering them cause I thought they were cheaper, but the chrome ones I was just looking at sold for more than a grand... friggen silly.. at those prices there are a lot of options.

Where can you get these for cheap?

 

Got mine off E-bay for $450. A little curb rash but for 450 your not going to find them any where else as cheap. Why pay a grand for used rims.

In referance to the very first post

I am looking at a set of the 17x7.5/8 coupe 6-spokes, which supposedly have the tire pressue sensor. Are the 17's with the automatic pressure sensor any different than the 18's or 19's.

Not quite sure why one should remove them. Although they won't work if you don't have the receiver, I don't think it hurts anything to leave them on. I had them left on when I ran the track editions. And if you sell them to another G/Z owner with them on, it can be used as a selling tool. Of course you can have them removed and sell them. They seem to fetch $100-$150 for the set

 

A question for those with 4th gens and G35c 18" wheels.
From the pictures I've seen, most seem to have the fronts pretty flush and the rears recessed a little.
However, my rears are pretty flush, but the fronts stick out a little.
Is there any way to correct this?

Anyone interested in trading 17" G35C wheels (staggered) with me? I have 17x7.5 front and 17x8 rear, want to have a consistant size so I can rotate the tires. I'm getting a set of these G35 17x7 wheels for my 4th gen max. I plan to get a set of Proxes for them. What size should I get, 215/50-17 or 225/45-17? These are both within about 1% of my stock 215/55-16 tires.

1010tires.com says that 235's and 245's require minimum 7.5" wheels. So are these sizes out of the question for 7" wheels?

 

I got my G35 18" wheels off ebay locally, so I didnt have to pay shipping. I think it was $400. Had some curb rash, that I grinded down and painted. I used the Sterling Mist touch up paint from my car, and it matched almost perfectly.

I got some center caps, I dont know what year, but they have the older style Nissan logo on them. They fit the wheels perfectly. The front wheels had no problem. The back wheels, the tabs from the center cap interfered with the dome end cap on the back axle. So I had to grind down the tabs and that solved it. However, in doing so, the retaining rings wont stay on the caps. They still snapped in place, and havent fallen off yet, but a large bump concerns me.

The front wheels stick out a little, the backs are almost flush. I am not sure yet what that will do to the handling. May improve it since the track width is larger now, but who knows.

I installed Goodyear Eagle GS-D3 235/40/18. I have only driven to work on them so far today, but it is raining here, and I punched it (on really wet pavement) and the car took off almost like on dry pavement, with very little tire spin. And one of the turns I take everyday, when it is wet, I always push a little; these tires held all the way through. I know that has nothing to do with this thread, but I was impressed enough to state it.

I am assuming these wheels are from a Coupe, but they are all the same width and offset. I have read that coupe wheels are staggered. Or maybe it was just the tires.

You definitely feel more of the road with 18s as opposed to 17s. That is a good thing for me though. The maxima chassis is already very communicative compared to most modern coupes and sedans, it is now even more so.

Money well spent I think.

 

i have a 2k2 maxima se and i want to put on the G35C rims the 18x8's i really dont like the look of the stock rims how they are inset and arent flush especially in the back so what size tires and maybe spacer would make it close to flush in the rear and front.

wow, I've neglected this thread! Time to answer some questions.

broken studs, wheels flying off while driving, and other things like that. Not bad long term results....they could be bad results in a short time. Not many wheels come in 115mm pattern anyhow, so don't worry about it. Tons of wheels come in 114.3...

The "chrome ones" are OEM replacement rims that companies buy, chrome-dip them, and then jack the price on. There are no chrome ones that actually come on the G35 (which would look gay anyhow). Suggest you look for normal-colored ones.

good point. I didn't say you "have" to remove them, but having them in there would probably required more extensive weights for balancing compared to a simple stem...besides that...

narrower tires, perhaps....

I would go with the 225's I suppose. By the way, IIRC www.edgeracing.com has better prices on the Proxes than 1010, last I looked.

1. read the first post. 235/40/18 will put you closest to stock diameter.
2. spacer in the back would likely cause rubbing on the inner fender lip. I wouldn't suggest them unless you're going to roll the fenders. Besides, the 18x8's are a 30 offset, which is 15mm farther out than your stockers already.

Did anyone have any issues putting on your rear center caps on the G35 coupe rims? Mine don't seem to fit!

Here's a pic of my dilemma. I figured it's the hub/grease cap. Does anyone know if it can be taken off without any repercussions?

 

Tap the grease caps in a little with a hammer where the wheele caps are hitting and they should fit fine.
