Hunter "road force" balance machine numbers???

what are good and bad numbers?
I had my two front 15,000 mileage Kumho tires done- both rims passed radial (up and down) runouts were .005 and .008.
the road force with the tires was 17 pounds on one tire - rated as a pass

and on the 2nd tire was 26 pounds, rated "marginal" for the tire but the tire/wheel assembly was a "pass" .

1. are these numbers good or bad?
2. what do you pay for a road force hunter 9700 machine balance? Nissan dealer in So Carolina want $40 per tire (!!) Infiniti dealer wants $35 per tire

those numbers are fine, you wont have a problem from those assemblies. I charge $55 per assembly at my shop, but I give a nice discount to fellow orgers.
What kind of lateral runnouts did you get?

one was .001 -.002 for left and right sides I guess
other tire was .001 left and .002 on the right

seems pretty tight specs for a 99 Infiniti I 30 machined rim with 58,000 miles on it

1. at what pounds force is a tire not marginal but "bad" 40? 80?

2. are Michelin tire typically better on road force?

3. wonder why a radial run out for the tire itself is not given?

with new Avons on an 02 they had all 4 at over 20lbs. After some rebalancing I still have 1 at 19lbs. which the installer finds barely acceptable. They like nothing over 15 lbs and have issues with tires requiring 20 lbs.

26 is about the highest you would want for a passenger tire. Are you feeling something from the tire? The machine does give you the tires runnouts too. I dont know if the one used on your assemblies does as mine has been upgraded to the latest software. The brand of the tire does not really affect the tires runnouts. I have never seen any tire that was perfectly round from any manufacturer. I have actually seen rounder tires from the smaller brands, then the big ones.

original problem

was a vibration at 70-80 mph, not felt below 60 mph.
Kumhos are cheaper tires, much cheaper compred to Michelin

I have not run it since the road force up to 70-80 yet, I will do that Friday

what road force numbers are others seeing?

where do you feel the vibration at ? steering wheel? seat? I have seen more out of round michelins then I have Kumhos. Did they measure the wheel(s) bare or with tires on them? Did you have the vibration previously?

more in the wheel

road force of 26 pounds I guess was for the whole assembly as the tires were not moved on the rim ( I marked it).

may be tire related but car will not be driven on interstate except every few months.
installing dealer balanced them in 04 when new and twice in 05 once they said their tire machine was "out of cal" , then I went to someone else to do the road force this week

Car is in Charleston sc
