Need help deciding on new tires for stock 98 SE rims. Yokohama AVID V4S?
Ok, so like the title says, I have a 98 SE with stock rims and I'm looking for a good all-season tire. I'd like for it to be good in rain and decently good in light snow. I would also like for it to be relatively quiet and have good treadware.
I've been reading reviews on tirerack.com and comparing prices. I like how the Yokohama AVID V4S sounds from the reviews I read. Anybody have any experience with these tires?
I am also looking at the Kumho ECSTA HP4 716 and the Continental ContiExtremeContact. Anybody have any advice on what to go with?
Thanks in advance.

I had the V4's for about 6,000 miles. I really couldn't complain. It did fine in dry, wet and snow. The sidewall's a little on the soft side and I wished it gripped a little better I could get them to scream when I romped on the throttle. They're more a "jack-of-all-trades" type tire if the price is right consider them..

You say you have a 98SE but that's not what it says under your address. I have a 95SE, 5-speed, with the 15" sawblades and I just bought 4 Yokohama Avid H4S yesterday as the V4S were not available in my size. I've only put about 10 to 15 miles on them, driving back from where I bought them yesterday, some of which was on the highway.
They are certainly quieter than my Goodyear Eagle RSAs. It was a toss-up between the H4S and BF Goodrich Traction TAs, but I got a steal on the H4S and opted for them.
I look forward to giving them a tryout soon on a twisty road.

Currently I'm running 205/65R15 Falken Ziex V-Rated and I love these things. They're slightly louder then the Kumho Ecsta HP4 716s I had but they grip so much better. I've put about 20,000 miles on them so far and they're wearing great. One of the tires developed a whine at varying speeds for a good 5k miles but it seems like it's gone now. They're great in the water from what I can tell so far.
The kumho's only lasted around 40k miles for me...those things wore out quick. In the twisties though, Falken definately beats the Kumhos.
I ran the Kumhos in the snow once but that was maybe around 20k miles...I didn't like them.. but the prior winter I also had Hankook snow-tires. I guess I'll have a better gauge once I put the Falkens on the snow this winter.
