I was just wondering because I keep reading these rave reviews for the Assurance Tripletred tires on Tirerack, 1010tires and etc and yet they're not popular at all on the message boards. I wonder why is that?

 

There are much better tires for a Maxima. I suspect those tires are better suited for an Oldsmobile, Buick, Chrysler sedan but I may be wrong.

Peruse the reviews and see what kind of vehicles these tires are being used on and I think you will get your answer.

 

Well, i was going to get a set of these for my I35, not looking for really sporty tires just something that will do well in the snow and will last a while. So i'm guessing not a lot of people here have these tires then huh?

 

I got them to replace my POS Firestone's and they are great. By no means are they high performance but i got a 80,000 mile tread warrentee so Ill take that anyday. Also they are REALLY good in the snow...

 

You get a lot of snow in Sacramento? Anyway, what size are you running? currently the stock size for the I35 is 215-55-17. The only sizes they have in the Tripletred that's close is either 225-55-17 or 215-60-17. i'll probably go wtih the 225 as i don't think rubbing will be an issue. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for them?

 

Lets see I think i paid $84 each plus the rest of the crap they used. Im using the stock size for a 2000 Maxima with 16" Rims... I live in the foothills of Cali so i get plenty of snow, and ill say they are w/o question MUCH quieter, softer ride than anything ive had on there. I talked with Goodyear and the Assurance Tread is meant for MiniVans not passenger cars, but because mini vans are getting bigger rims, they will fit on cars as well. I wonder if I will get more life out of it considering that I have less weight..... I got my tires at http://www.justtires.com/ and had them installed at a dealer, check locally because you can get some good deals locally...

I had two sets of GY tires on my past cars and never liked either set, one set were Integrity and the others were Eagle II... They were always more expensive than other brands for same category of tires... Wet traction was bad and I thought they wore very fast... After 30K they were both ready to be replaced... I try to stay away from them...

 

There is a recall on GY RSA tires. This is an OEM tire for Nissan Maxima and Infiniti I30/35. The tires are cracking in the sidewall and GY insists that they be replaced with newer GY RSA tires on a PRO RATED basis. This is clearly a rip off. The extent of the problem is not yet known but RSA is an H rated all season tire commonly sold for police pursuit vehicles. Remember, PDs often have to take the low bidder for the tire rating.
Coincidentally, Goodyear has announced that it will no longer allow any armed customer in any of their facilities. They expressly forbade off duty cops to carry thier issued weapons into the stores. No lawfully licensed person may carry at a Goodyear facility. It is not known if any cops have been killed as a result of the RSA mess. We also don't have a death rate on non LEOs from defective Goodyear tires.

Goodyears actually were tested to do pretty well, BUT I'm still trying to get more details on the test, so I'm gonna reserve any personal opinions for later.

Apparently Car and Driver Rated the Goodyear Eagle F1's the best... it doesnt apply to these tires but they cant be as bad as everyone says they are... They are a good tire...

 

Woa, nice quote outa different thread.

You mean overall, since their price pushed them to the top. If you read the article, the best dry tire was the BFG g-Force T/A KD. Price not being considered, the Pilot Sport PS2s would have been the best overall and who the he!! knows where the S-03s would have rated if they had tested them.

I went to tirerack.com and read the reviews on the available tires for my OEM '97 SE rims (215/55/16).

Check out how a lot of maxima drivers give the GoodYear tires very low scores compared to other competitors. I ended up purchasing Kumho's.
