"Good"year RS-A

Are we the only one w/ RS-A issues? I tried to search but it seems only us SE's have the problems. Since cars like BMW 525i and 530i, Jeep SRT8, and a load of other imports and domestics use them as OEM tires. Have this questions bean beaten to death and back?

I met a Goodyear manager the other night playin pool... he said that the 245/45 is a size made directly for nissans. From what he said the RS-A is a pretty good tire. You know this will be moved though, right?

My wife has RS-A's on her Mazda 3S....personally, the few times I've driven the car I've been less than impressed with them, particularly when the roads are wet.

The problem with many car companies is that they put the tires on the car that they "get a deal on" from the manufacturer - i.e. the tires are not all that great and are tough to sell independent of the car....that's one reason why some cars come with OEM sizes that are tough to find in other tires other than the OEMs...just look at the 5th gens with 17's, which came with the225/50/17 Potenza RE92. That is quite easily the WORST tire I've EVER used in my life...it is not safe in the rain at all...and the size is "funky"...most tires aren't available in the 225/50/17 size...so they screw you into few choices and count on the "non-enthusiast" car owner to just but a new set of RE92s when the originals wear out. I'm having the same problem finding the right size (non RS-A) to fit my wife's Mazda now that her stockers are worn down.

Bottom line: The RS-A is better than the RE92, but it's still not that great of a tire....look at Toyo Proxes 4 for a better tire in the same category.

I have 4 that I just took off my car. Only 6000 miles on them. Put on a new set of Toyo Proxes 4's and the difference is quite dramatic. The Toyos are much much quieter and ride smoother.

I called Goodyear customer service to get the information on RSA's. The GY tech said that the problem was with OEM tires from one factory. He would not divulge the location of the factory. He says no recall is necessary because the tire owners have the right to go into any Goodyear store for a free safety check. He said GY would replace the damaged tires on a PRORATED basis only. If your car has one bad tire, it will be replaced, you must continue to drive on the other three bad tires until they either fail or the cracks become obvious to the naked eye of the GY tire jockey. When the others crack they will be replaced on a prorated basis. If your tire blows out on the road it will be replaced at a prorated cost to be determined by GY.
Many of the local police cars are shod with GY RSA tires because they are the low bidder on fleet tires for high speed application. Right after the RSA scandal broke, GY implemented a new company policy that prohibits any lawfully owned firearm on company property. That includes off duty law enforcement. There are 38 states that have "right to carry" laws for law abiding citizens. Even if you are licensed to carry concealed you must remove your weapon. After it is removed you may not lock it in the trunk, gove box, utility compartment or car safe. It is not allowed on the property. Perhaps you could bring a second car shod with Yoko's for safety and park it off property.
When the Firestone tire scandal broke years ago, the company implemented the free safety check sales program. When the consumer brings the bad tire in you try to sell batteries, shocks etc. They want to use the extra foot traffic in the store to increase sales!

I have the RS-A's from a stock G35c, no cracking and not a bad tire so far, but they DO suck for wet weather.
