I would think at least 7.5 inches and really an 8 inch rim for a good fit.

A 9? I've got 9s on my TA and 275's are about right and I could easily go to 295 on a 9 inch wheel....

Rear 350Z rims are 8" and have 235/50/17 tires. I would think 9".

255/45R17s are spec'd for 8.0-9.5 inch wide rims. That said, I'd stay on the lower end but I'm betting it my still rub on a 4th gen.

Shadow, those are 50 series rims. You can put 255/65R17 tire in a 7 inch wheel and still be within specs. It depends on the aspect ratio.

9" wheel is min for 275/40 so that's the largest tire you should run on a 9.
<think about it a 275 is almost 11" wide>

I run 255/40s on 17x8.5 and 17x9 (track)

20s on a 4th gen....

These are approved with a 245/30 tire, you will want a spacer for flushness in the rear.

all other chrome 50lb bling master "dubs" are denied, don't even go there

My rule of thumb for street tires: keep the rim width within one inch of the section width. That a rule of thumb, a.k.a. a general guide, not an absolute requirement.
