Nexen N3000 ~ Any good?

I just heard of a brand called Nexen. Looking at N3000 that are for sale. Are these a reputable brand or should I just stay away? If I didn't go with the Nexen, I would get Dunlop 9000. Sounds like these are very nice tires.

Any suggestions on either? Oh, and I'm working with 225/40/18 or 235/40/18.

You might want to do some research on the Dunlops. I have a set of Dunlop SP Sport FM901s and I can't stand them. Loud & no reinforced firewall, although they do have decent treadwear, decent wet traction, and the tread pattern looks really bada$$. The only reason why I still have them is because one of my wheels cracked, and I've got to repair/replace the wheel before I get new tires. I have them on a set of MKW M12 18"x8" wheels @ 215/40/18, and I'm hoping to find some good used Toyo Proxes4 tires @ 235/40/18 to swap them out with.

Do your homework before you drop $$$ on any tires & see what people recommend. www.1010tires.com is a good place to check.

Hello.
I'm new to this list and for some @#$%^! reason I can't start a thread, so please let me jump in on this thread. I think picking tires and rims for a 'new' used car is a pretty good question. If it is against the rules or etiquette here please feel free to toast me on both sides.
I just got a completely stock 98 Maxima SE with the stock wheels 16x6.5 (?). It came with Gislaved NordFrost snow tires, which are actually supposed to be pretty good snow tires, they are OEM on some Volvos I read somewhere.
Anyway, I live near Santa Fe, NM and don't need snow tires, although it does snow lightly at times in the winter. And we get VERY little rain. BUT it is really hot in the summer.
I do about 90% highway driving, on I25 to and from my house, which is about 50 minutes each way at 80~+mph. The rest is dirt roads where I live and in the mountains around Santa Fe, Taos, and Southern Colorado, yeah.
So, I am basically looking for strong hot weather highway tires, with guiet ride, good handling, and decent tread wear PLUS good handling in the mountains. Right now with the snow tires, this car is noisy on the highway and sways all over the road in any kind or curve on mountain roads, it's a little scary. Of course, suspension and other things need to be upgraded, but right now I'm starting with the tires/rims.
So, some questions.
1. Will Nexen N2000 (not the N3000) tires fit my OEM 16" rims? They call them low profile but the size is the same as the stock size 215/55r16. It's a good price on ebay, $309 for 4 with free shiping, I think (?).

2. What sort of larger rims and tire combos will fit well on a 4th gen max? I don't want ANY problems with rubbing or any other issues. 17", 18",~? I want to know the standard best fit rim/tire sizes to fit the maxima wheel well and fenders. I am not looking for any radical bling, or extreme low profile at all.
3. Will all later year rim/tire combos fit the 4th gen max? Is there any that look and fit the 4th gen really well?
4. Since I am not in a money spending contest with this car, $$$ are an important consideration. I want to go the best bang for buck, without making stupid choices just to get the cheapest price. I want the easiest and best way to get a better set of tires on this ride. A larger rim/tire combo of off a later gen (5th, 6th?) max or other car would be just fine. I assume the bolt pattern stays the same for later gen maxs?
5. What sort of tire and wheel bundles can I find that would be a great deal? Can I find good used deals? The shipping on bundles gets pretty high, like $100 or more for a set of 4, I think.
6. Any and all advice please. I don't even know where to start here--new tires, new rims, sway bars, lowering, etc!
Thanks, mikey

wow, Mikey. you are lost! haha, sorry but just so many questions!

you need to figure out what you want from the car and them determine the mods from there. with larger rims, you are going to have less sidewall on the tire. this will result in a rougher, bumpier ride. it doesn't really sound like that's what you want. http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html will tell you exactly what will fit and match OEM size. as far as deals, that's really up to you to shop around.
