Kumho Ecsta ASX...any good?
My tires are so bald its not even funny...driving in rain feels like driving on ice..anyway I need some decent tires at a good price...i ordered the a/s kumho ecsta ASX for $90 a piece. anybody else have these tires and are you satisfied with them? any downsides? thanks.

i just bought some, and i'm happy with them... but i really don't know anything about tires. they're the first tires i've bought on my own, and the first set of four i've ever had.
they're not super sticky, but they work well enough for me. i'm sure i'd notice a big difference if i made some suspension upgrades. hasn't rained since i got 'em.
i got them because they had as good a rating for snow/ice as anything else in that price range on tirerack. for the price, i'm definitely satisfied. even more so if they hold up.

well being an all season they will probably work OK in llight snow..but digging through deep snow with ice ehh...i mean the maxima is a pretty decent car in the snow as it is...its not super low..not super heavy and front wheel drive...best bet is to get winter tires..at least on the front. but nobody else has had kuhmo asx's before?

I have them on my car. Being in the south, I have no experience driving them in ice/snow conditions. I have the stock 225/50/17 and I like these tires. Much better than the Potenza and Nitto 450 I've had on it previously. These tires are much quieter, sticks like bug juice on dry or wet pavement. I do have a mild suspension "upgrade" with a FSTB and an RSB.

i've had them since last summer, had no issues going through a chicago winter with them. if you know how to drive in snow/ice, these tires should give you no problem. dry and wet grip is decent, not extremely grippy but not bad. the only annoying factor is they have a slight hum to them, i hope it would go away after they wore a bit but i've put about 6k miles on mine and they're still noisy. they're wearing great though, still look new.

I have them...235/40/18. been running them for about 30k miles. just about ready to replace them. I ran them through this past winter with no problem..the snow was a bit tricky because of the width but the tires held up. you should be fine.

Ive had them on a couple vehicles and they have worked great for me. I used them to go up to the local mountain for snowboarding, there not the greatest in the snow, but as long as you don't drive stupid they had plenty of traction. Great in the rain, fine in the dry.
Edit: They also have a new design out that looks like its replacing the ASX.

i have them on dropped suspension, and they work great. compared to the bridgestone turanza el42 tires that i had on these are 100x better. they hold the road more, the sidewall is much stiffer and flatter, and it looks great.

They have one of the highest tread ratings and they have good wet and dry traction. I live in FL so I have no snow input. Had these on my mazda3 and loved em. They had 10k miles on them with almost no wear. Then I bought my 5.5

I was looking at these tires also to replace the worst tires in the world NITTO 450. I'd take Potenzas over NITTO 450 anyday. I am probably just gonna spend the money and get some good tires. It seem like tires under 100.00 are garbage. I'll look to spend 130-150 per tire to get some quality tires. I am leaning toward Yokahama Avid at 122.00 each
