suggestions on 225/50/17
Looking for suggestions for 225/50/17. I would like an all-season tire that will last at least 45,000 miles. Preferably, a set that is not noisy and has good wet/dry traction. I live in Kentucky, so, we do have small amounts of snow. My experience is that most all-seasons aren't geared toward snow, so, that is not as important as the others.
Thanks

I have the Falken 512 tires on my 2002 Maxima (225-50-17), and they are almost worn out at 25,000 miles. And, yes, I rotated them regularly and kept the pressure up. I liked them when new, but they've worn out too quickly. They also haven't performed as well in snow as I'd like. I realize that they aren't snow tires, but I'm comparing them to other cars I've driven that have all-season tires.
Like the first poster here, I'm looking for good all-around all-season tires. I'm willing to give up a measure of dry-road performance for wet- and snowy-road performance and tire longevity.
So far, I'm considering the Yokohama Avid V4S, Toyo Proxes TPT, Avontech M550 and Bridgestone Turanza LS-V, but I'm unsure how decent any of these are in the winter. Anybody have any suggestions?
On a side note, what other size tires would work on the stock wheels (fit, are safe and won't mess the speedo up too much)?

My 512s have run 45K w/o incident. They are really a 235/45/17, but they have been fine on the 2000. On the Spec, the 215/50/17s are also holding up well in aggressive driving, and the ones that were on my I30 were good while I had it.
I guess driving styles, roads, and pressure has a lot to do with longevity.
