have them, i haven't tried it in winter yet but i think they would be ok, but i see that you are in texas, so that shouldn't be a problem. I had Potenza RE950's on an LS400 a while ago like 5 years ago, and i got that car stuck on some many occasions in MA. I mean that tire is not meant for snow ice period. Anyway the re950 handles a little better in the dry and wet. However I have my maxima now and it has Bridgestone G09 tires on it. I bough it like that, but if i where to put tires on it i would put the Bridgestone Re960 on it. That's because i like to go to the edge sometimes. However The tires on it right now are G09's and I am very happy. I have driven 85mph in medium rain and it was very stable. I have gone 145mph on these tires trying to max it out on a straight highway following my friends mustang who is a cop! Even though its rated H which means like top speed 130mph, it gave me no problem at 140+. Corners very good and is quiet on the highway. So that's my review of it and I think you won't be disappointed if you buy them. here is the best pic i have of the tire on my car.

Upsides:

- Great wet traction
- Solid construction
- Good steering response

Downsides:

- Hard
- Heavy
- Slightly weak dry grip and traction
- Terrible in the snow

In other words, if all you do is drive over potholes during monsoons, they're great. If not, eh... They definitely don't suck, but you can do better.

i would have to disagree with the above thread, when you stated you can do better, yes that is true and that depends also on what you want the tires to do. But i would still disagree with your statement because for the $$$ these tires are on top of their game. You said better, name it(same or less price)

Of course you pick your size instead of the OP's. Heh.

Anyway, the point of asking for a size is that different tires work better or worse in different sizes, so you need a size if you're going to be doing a good comparison.

In 215/55-16, the G 009 costs $101 from Tire Rack, is H rated, and weighs 25 lbs. The best alternative in that size is the Toyo Proxes 4. It will make the G 009 look like a skate in all conditions, and you can get it for $82 a pop. It also is V rated, weighs 22 lbs, makes less noise, and rides MUCH smoother.

Other options are the Continental ContiExtremeContact ($95, V rated, 26 lbs), Avon Tech M550 A/S ($86, WR rated, 24 lbs), and Dunlop SP Sport A2 Plus ($80, H rated, 25 lbs).

im not going to argue, choose whatever you want! I just gave my opinion, and another opinion is i would never put Avon or continental tires on my car in any size. The toyo will wear out faster, so if he is looking for a tire to keep for a while its not a good choice. Also I agree the toyo grips better, but not by much better. Anyway it all depends what you want! I should be getting my 18x8 rims, i am not putting G09's on them, not because its a bad tire, but because it dosent meet my demands.

Hey man. You asked.

FYI, you can't compare treadwear ratings from different vendors. I know for sure that the Proxes 4s I have now aren't wearing down any faster than the G 009s I had.

Also FYI, the Proxes 4s grip way way WAY better than the G 009s, especially in the dry and in the snow.
