1994 300ZX NA Wheels

Hey guys, I just got a great offer made for a set of '94 NA 300ZX wheels. Will those clear the brakes in the '04 SE? I don't have the luxury to take my wheels off and try his on right now, and I need to know it it will work.

I know that stock '04-06 wheels won't clear the 4 pistons 300ZX brakes. I would guess you'll be alright.

The biggest wheels that will clear the A34 brakes are 17" I believe and even some stock 17s wont clear them.

very true...I think the thing you need to worry about is the diameter, not the offset, which is the issue with clearing the 300zx brakes under the maxima wheels.

Wait, you mean the smallest wheel that will clear A34 brakes have to be at least 17'?
Damn, I might just have to drive there and find out. Just don't want to have to take a long drive on a donut.

if you can, ask the person who you're buying the wheels from to measure from the center of the wheel to the inside of it, and if you don't have at least 7 5/8" of clearance, your brakes will not fit.

Yup, I forgot about the diameter of the brakes. They are right about 17".

I have 300zx brakes on my 6th gen and my stock 18s will not fit. Im looking into spacers, but havent done it yet. Its really close, but they dont fit. They bump the raised NISSAN logo cast into the caliper. My aftermarket A-Tech rims clear with plenty of room.

That's my point. If the stock 300zx wheels are large enough to clear the brakes that the A34 18' won't, then the 300ZX wheels should be able to mount on the stock front A34 brakes.

wrong

the 300zx clear the calipers because of the offset however they will not clear the rotors.

some of you guys need to do some reading up on some things

The 300zx wheels will clear the 6th gen brakes in terms of OFFSET, but not in terms of diameter. The Z32, IIRC, used 11-inch rotors and the brakes just tuck inside the wheels. Your 6th gen rotors are 12.5 inches in diameter. It won't work.

Even alot of 17s and 18s will not clear the Z32 calipers because of their outside pistons, they stick out quite a bit farther than your stock brakes. It's all about offset. Stock Maxima wheels (from any gen) will not clear the Z32 calipers IIRC.

That said, all three of my wheels will clear the Z32 calipers with the 6th gen rotors (blehmco brackets) - but all of my wheels are between 30 and 35mm offset and are at least 8" wide....

I suggest a few of you go to www.tirerack.com and look in the section that explains offset and how it affects clearances, because a couple of you clearly need to "get some knowledge" on the subject....
