Deciding between General UHP or Kumho 711

Needing new tires before spring, I'm going with the size 225/40/18. Didn't feel the need to go with a 235 width for the price jump. I have narrowed it down to the General UHP ($88 per) http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....e1=yes&place=2 and the Kumho 711 ($69 per) http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....e1=yes&place=0

I have had bad luck with the Kuhmo 712 in the past. But people say that is just a bad tire and not how all of Kuhmo's tires are. I'm most concerned about treadwear. I drive a bit hard once in a while, but never any burnouts or anything. Secondly, I want a sticker tire. So if the Generals are much better performing and worth the price, I would go for them. Any experience is good to hear. Thanks

I hate Kuhmo...

I have the Generals on my car. Couple thousand miles(1-3). I like them so far, quiet, good in rain, and cheap. Dry traction is good too. For the price I don't think you can beat them(well for my sizes).

Ive heard nothing but good things about the Generals. My friend has them on his VW GLI and loves them. Ive read alot that they are one of the best "bang for the buck" tires around. Ive never heard anyone rave about kumhos but Im sure they are a decent tire. My vote goes with the Generals tho...

Here's a link to an ongoing thread about the General Exclaim UHP's: link

I've currently got Michelin Pilot Sports and will most likely get these next spring when my Sports' tread gets low.

How can you generalize like that about an entire company's lineup? Pretty much every tire manufacturer makes both great and horrible tires. Kumho is no exception... the ecsta MX's are amazing tires for the price... If anything, you should hate general. Every tire they make sucks EXCEPT for the exclaim UHPs lol
