How wide can I go?

I have a Gen 6 and really want to improve handling and stance(lower&wider) with a new wheel/tire pkg.. I've used all the calculators here but want realistic feedback from someone who's tried this:

18X9's w/255/45 or 275/40.

Should I get a lower offset in the rear (20mm) and 35 front or same all around. Will either work w/o rubbing issues? I want a nice low, wide stance and don't mind the tires sticking out a bit beyond flush.

Also, I'm not currently dropped, but will be getting Progress or Eibachs to go w/ the new setup.

Any feedback will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I doubt you can run 18x9 w/ 20mm offset on the front so unless you don't mind rotating your tires, go staggered

thanks for the reply Ammi- would you recommend 18X8.5 35 offset w/255/45?

yea that would work just fine but 18s little small for 05 Max. See if you can get 19s.

Are you going for looks or handling performance?

If you're going for looks, I'd recommend 19" or 20" staggered.

If you're going for performance, get 18x8.5 and 245/45/18 all-around.

Yes, I'm going for performance. If I had RWD, I'd be all over the staggered choice. On the Max, though, I want the widest tire I can have up front. On a 18X9" rim, can I go 275/40 problem free w/ Eibachs? And, should I have different offsets on F/R? A little more help here would be greatly appreciated as I'm looking to buy pretty soon.
Thanks,
Rich

I believe you'll have problems with 275s up front

You can go 18x9 all around and still keep 245/45/18, since you're going for performance.
