Wheel painting/finishing advice needed

I have a set of Konig Tantrums that were basically given to me. The thing that sucks is the person who had 'em sandblasted off the original finish and then sprayed them w a thin primer. If im going to put them on my car, I want the finish to hold up real well. I would consider getting a near original finish or doing a gunmetal to go with my white max. Any suggestions on where I can take them to get it done correctly or what to use. Thanks-

if you want something that holds up real well, get them powdercoated. the paint from autozone looks good and seems durable in the beginning. from my experience, what tends to happen is the brake dust and dirt tend to burn into the clearcoat/paint.

I thought you had to be REALLY careful of the rims you have powdercoated since they can get really brittle after the treatment...

Irish44j knows more about it, but I would be really careful.

It is really easy to paint them yourself, Advance-Auto has Duplicolor Wheel paint that works really well.

I had powercoated wheels and after years of harsh winter, still held up relatively well.

I know it depended on how the rims were made... But it was not really "winter" that would hurt them. But any stress and they could break much easier.

As I said, I would be VERY careful and do a lot of reading before you do it. I just suggest painting since it is soooo easy, cheap and if done well, looks just as good. When I painted mine gunmetal for awhile tons of people swore they were powdercoated... They were very suprised to hear I did it myself in my garage.
