My thoughts on the Toyo Proxes 4

My thoughts on the Toyo Proxes 4
I got the tires put on Thursday morning.
The tire is extremely quiet and has a fairly firm sidewall. I still think the sidewall could be stiffer but it is not a soft sidewall by any stretch.
These tires stick fairly well and cruise very well on the highway. I drove about 400 miles today (crossed the 50k mark ) the tire performed well on the road. Steering response beats the snot out of the Nitto 450s that were on it and the sound level is soooo much better. The downside is now I hear just how much wind and road noise their is
I got the 225/45/17 just FYI.
Anyways thought I'd share my thoughts so far. We have a big road trip to wyoming in about 2 months that'll be the true test.

Cool! Thats what I wanted to hear. The reason is because I'm looking for a deal here on Long Island, NY for 2 cars. One for me and my friend. I'm looking for the stock size 225/50/17 but I see that you have the 225/45/17. Is there much of a difference there? Do you have any pics? Thanks!

how much are you looking to spend, and are you set on Proxes?

I very much like the Proxes 4 that I run in the summer. My only complaint is that they now have 15K miles on them and are below 50% tread they are getting considerably louder. I suppose that happens with almost all high-performance tires and it's not a big deal, but thought I'd mention it.
Besides that, they have excellent dry and wet grip, almost never squeal on hard corners, and ride quality is very good, even with a 40-profile.

Unless you know of anything what would provide maximum comfort with such a low profile (40 or 45).

Since I'm trying to keep the comfort I'm deciding on 225 45 18.... or if I should just go with the 40 profile to prevent rubbing issues (Dropped on H-Techs). Then there's the width decision as to what looks better on 7.5 width rims. 225 or 235. I guess when it comes down to it, whatever is priced better and more comfortable.

I guess that way is more of a chain of educated guesses, but still.

There seems to be a big difference in how that tire is made with 50-series and up vs. 45-series and under: 45-and-under gives you a great sidewall, but 50-and-over gives you nothing but mush.
Why not try 235/45/17?

mixed review
I've got the Proxie 4's on my car during the summer 245/40-18s here to protect the rims better with the wider tire. I honestly don't think there all that they're cracked up to be, although I don't have anything to really compare them to on the Maxima. I just put a set of Conti' Winter's on and so far they seem to grip better than the Proxies. It just seemed like I could spin the Proxies too easily. Just my .02
