I think any snow tire will do well & significantly better than an all season tire. Get one from any reputable brand name and you'll be good. I have Blizzak WS-50 on my G35 and they grip well in the snow. However, on dry pavement they are very soft and mushy. Try to get something with decent performance on both snow and dry pavement.

my Toyo Observes have amazing snow/ice traction, they can be a little slick on the dry pavement though.

Better snow/ice traction then any other snow tire i've ever driven on.

I had Winterforce on mine and loved them. They are cheap, but like any other snow/ice tire lil loose on dry pavement due to the tread depth. Try tirerack.com they have a really good selection filter and give you an idea at what your lookin at.

Winterforce also. On snow they rock but dry pavement = soft and mushy. Good tire though.

Don't be an idiot. If you want to ask a question abotu tires, you ask it in the tires forum. I let it stay in the 4th gen forum for a day them I moved it. And as a DONATING MEMBER, you can search. Something tells me that if you search for "snow tires" you will get plenty of information, so quit being a lazy b!tch and stop cluttering up my forum.

pirelli makes the best all around snow.. the toyos are a bit squirrly in the rain and spin a lot with no snow.. i have winterforce and they tend to hydroplane in large puddles.

You want to go mid priced and dont want to have suck *** performance when there is not snow on the ground? (Which is the case where I live, and this is Buffalo, so im sure your winters there arent snow everyday) Id go for an all season that is rated highly in the snow. I have ContiProContacts, they are about $100 less per tire than Blizzaks (those things are NOT midpriced, they cost a fortune) and I felt completely confident in the snow/ice storm we had here where cars were disabled everywhere...and im on an all season tire. To boot, I dont have to sacrifice much performance, these are pretty good performers in 245/45/18.

good choice. For great dry performance + good snow performance, the WSM3 and Blizzak LM22/25 (what I use) are far and away the best. Pricey, but worth it.
