someone explain offset to me?

just lowered the max.
I need new rubber and was plannign on gettign a package deal with wheels.

I know I need some type of offset t omake the wheels flush with the body.

I thought the larger the offset the further out the wheels would be.
The other day reading a post that some one should add spacers and the offset was like +40

I want to get azul 18x8 speed mesh, wheelfire.com has them for like $539 for a set of 4 the offset is 40.

The lower the offset, the farther out the wheel is. (ie. +30 comes out more than a +40)

18x8 +40 will fit perfectly fine, though it is a conservative fitment. Personally I'd go with a more aggressive offset like +30 in front, and +20 in rear, but you might need to roll your fenders for that.

Like he said, the less positive the offset the more flush with the wheel wells.

Don't be afraid to use your search functions. These questions have been answered numerous times.

For your particular year +45mm.
For 6th Gen +42mm.

If i were you I'd go with something under +35mm.
Remember, 2.54 cm = Inch So lets say you go from 40mm to 30mm
thats a 10 mm difference wich equals 1 cm
1/2.54 = about .4 inches. This means 10mm less positive equals about .4 inches sticking out more making it more flush with the wheel wheels.
