Performance Rating and Real Life

How much difference is there between H rated and W rated tires? Also, to those that have had something like the LS-V or LS-H, what is the driving difference between the LS-V and a V-rated UHP all season? The big thing that jumps out is tread life (favoring the H or touring), but is the premium for these tires worth the difference in performance? I haven't seen a good explanation of what classifies a tire as touring/uhp, or a real commentary in the differences on the speed ratings...just summary that one should perform better. I'm a little curious. Thanks.

All else equal, higher speed rating means better construction. In some cases, that means a better "feeling" tire (handling, ride, etc.). It can also be more resistant to damage.

but how long do they last? I can't be getting tires every few months since I do 30k per year.
