Recommended TIRE PSI level for auto-crossing

going to an auto-cross event this sat, and was just curious whats a good psi level i should run my tires.

tires i have are nothing special, just sum cheap kumo tires. max psi is @ 44psi, right now there all at about 35 psi. heard u should run 80% of max psi.
is this okay?

so any recommendations for the auto-cross? i guess as long as it doesn't rub of the chalk u apply on the sidewalls is it ok?

All tires are diff in the pressures they like. The idea is to get the most out of the contact patch with out rolling the tire over. You want the wear just over the edge of the outer tread block. Keep in mind that tire pressures will rise after a run as the tires get hot. I would start around 40psi (cold) all around mark the edges of the tires and make a run. I try and keep tire pressure adjustments around 2psi.
