Suggestions needed: New tires for the '99 Maxima SE

My tires are messed up and I'd like to get a new set. Does anyone have any suggestions on a decent tire at a fair price for my 99 maxima SE. Price is an issue but I'd like to get a nice set, so the best set that I can get for the money. Any suggestions?

a nice budget minded tire would be the falken ziex-512.
this is assuming you are in the market for an all season tire.
check out discounttiredirect.com or edgeracing.com forgot which site has it cheaper.

My wheels arn't stock. I have General Exclaim tires on there right now. I do need an all season tire, and I will be driving in the snow.

edit: My bad, I'm an idiot my wheels are stock.

go to tirerack and put your tire size in then sort by price. Read what people say about the tires. Thats usually how i do it when I feel like trying different stuff.

My bad, I'm an idiot my wheels are stock. They are the stock wheels that come on the SE I guess. No idea of the size but it was what ever came on the car back when we bought it in '99.

These wheels:

Do you guys think buying online and having a store balance and align is cheaper then going to a store and buying tires there and having them align there?

General Exclaims are all season tires. And they're rather inexpensive. I have two on my car and plan to get two more before winter for the other axle. I'd recommend tirerack as well. I usually purchase from tirewarehouse though.

Edit: stock tire size is 215/55R16 for your SE. You can get 225/50R16

I posted this in the 4th gen max forum and it was moved here. I didn't know there was a tire forum.

Well this may help

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey...jsp?type=UHPAS

The only other well rounded tire I see on that list is the Contiextremecontact...based on consumer reviews...For UHPAS that is...

Shipped from Tire rack your looking at a little under 400 I believe, plus mounting, balancing, etc...

I would suggest calling several tire places in your area and asking them what brands they carry, then doing research based on that....

I totally agree in dry in wet conditions, but I thought the proxes 4s were less then stellar in snow/ice conditions? I wouldn't know as I haven't tried it, my current tires are Toyo Proxes 4s....

Care to enlighten us?
