Is this a good deal or what?
Is this a good deal or what?
i have the opportunity to buy two different sets of wheels, both cost 300 dollars. i have a 97 GLE and dont know much about offset or spacing or anything else. please tell me what you think of these deals and what other things, if any (spacers, etc.) i will need to make them flush.
THE FIRST
17" '04 350Z wheels with minor minor curb rash. no serious dings or any discoloration whatsoever. TWO of them have Bridgestone Potenza RE040 tires that have less than 2000 miles driven on them. the specs are 245-50-17s on the back and 225-50-17s on the front. the front two are bald, and will need to be replaced.
i did some research on tirerack.com about the Bridgestone Potenza RE040 tires and they got slammed from every single customer - especially as the tires related to wet weather, which is a big concern for me as i am in Florida.
but still, thats 4 17" wheels and two NEW tires for $300......good deal right?
heres a pic from my cell:

THE SECOND
4 18" '07 350Z wheels with NO SCUFFS OR RASH WHATSOEVER. totally perfect condition. however all 4 tires on them are bald and all 4 will need to be replaced. so thats 4 perfect 350Z wheels for $300.....
i am concerned about rubbing since they are 18s, but also concerned becuase the backs (like the 17s) are wider than the fronts. how will i adjust them to make them flush?
anyway here are the 18s

thanks for your input

also, does anyone know how much these weigh?
what about their offset?
and what size tires would you recommend with the 18s so they there are no clearance issues on my 4th gen?

both these should be fine, as are most oem nissan wheels. i don't know the exact specs of either, but i'm pretty sure they've both been done. the rear of our cars can fit a larger wheel, so the stagger shouldn't be a problem. i like the 18"s better.
yea i like them better too....could i run, lets say, 245-45-18s on the backs? and 225-45-18s on the fronts?
or will i have to go 40 or 35 sidewalls?
like ive said before i should have as meaty a tire as possible becuase i live around 1512351 train tracks and i hit them daily. i WANT 45 sidewalls, if not more.

45 series shouldn't be an issue, but don't get too caught up in the numbers. you can have a wide 40 thats taller than a narrow 45. the series is the percentage of the width. ie, 45% of 215mm < 40% of 245
i see. i didnt know that.
any suggestions on tires i should buy?
i was lookin at tirerack last night and the low end Kumhos seemed to get good reviews. 101 a piece for the 225-45-18s. they dont make a 245-45-18 for that. should i go with a 245-40-18 on the back? will that make my car look uneven? should i just keep it 45 across the board?
here are the tires im taling about.

i think on the 18s the wheels are 225-40-18 on the front and 245-40-18 on the back. its whatever came stock with the 350Z from 06 or 07.
i was looking to bump to 45 sidewalls. just something thick so when i hit those traintracks it doesnt destroy my car.

size of the wheels, not tires. ie width. but it seems like you could get away with whatevers on there. then switch it up when you HAVE to change tires if you want to.
you COULD but, like i said, i would need to know the width to make a good recommendation. even then, theres a lot of personal taste involved. you sure thats a z wheel and not a maxima?
