Wheels and tires for 300+hp?

I finally got my supercharged fourth gen running pretty well, and I am having issues with traction. I am currently running 19x8.5" wheels with a +35 offset with 235/35/19 Nitto 555's. I am not really worried about 1st gear since I know I would need slicks for that, but in 2nd gear the I spin from ~5k on, and then in 3rd gear close to 90 mph I will start to loose traction again. I am thinking about switching to smaller wheels to gain the performace of going to a smaller wheel, but I am thinking I would like to go with a wider wheel. I was thinking about a 17x9 with ~+35 offset. Would that clear stock fenders? Would going up a half inch in wheel width even help that much with my problems? If I do switch wheels I would like to find something in a smaller diameter than what I have and a wider width, and a lighter weight. I like Kosei K1's but it seems that those are discontinued now. Please feel free to throw out some suggestions or opinions.

How about wider tires?

I have 245's on my 18x8 wheels, so I'm sure that you could easily do 255 for better traction. Sure, the handling will suffer a little bit because there will be more flex to the tire depending on what size side-wall you get though.

Are your nittos worn? 17x9 will do quite a bit for the car over what 19x8.5 can provide, not only because of the extra width but because there will be more sidewall (not to mention weight and rotational inertia decrease).

^^exactly I have 17x9 with 255 setup, you could go as wide as 275 but you would probably rub, my 255's don't rub. I'm gonna try a set of 265's next. (maybe)

Well width isnt everything, if your just for traction then a stickier tire would be better. Perhaps Proxes T1-S if you can still find them. I like my Hankook RS2's for dry traction too, there fairly cheap too which is even better.

For your amount of power, id probably step it up to a 245/255 with a stickier tire. That should help alot.

More sidewall if you dont mind the look has its own benefits, less bent wheels, less wheelhop etc.

+1 more, 255s are really the max you can go, unless you have some *****, then you can pull your fenders 10-15mm all around, run 9 +25 and 275s...not really worth it unless you want bragging rights...

He wants his tires to hook up so he can go FASTER, not install boat anchors so he can go slower.

Those 19's with rubber band tires are likely killing your traction. Do you have a VLSD? I'd recommend stepping down to 17's for performance, width will help but is not everything, its' the profile that is killing you.

nope, I am sure that would help some too.

I know there are guys here making plenty more power than I am so I was trying to get a feel for their set ups.

to the guy that was running the 17x9's what is the offset? How low are you? What wheels are they?

I already own a set of evo 8 wheels with their factory tires, but I was going to use those for auto crossing.

His offset is +35 I believe...go with something similar...
