225/50 17 VS 235/50 17

I would like to know what the difference in comfort is compared to the stock 225 on the 5.5th gen that with the 235. I will be needing a new set of tires in the next few months and would like to get a set that are a little more comfortable that the stock size, also looked into the 225/55/ 17 but i know it will throw off my speedometer too much compare to the 235. Thanks for the help.

Wider with a shorter sidewall. what do you think is going to happen to the ride comfort?

For 5th gen you can run following in order with most to least sidewall...more = comfort

215/55/17
225/50/17
235/45/17

pretty incomplete list there.

235-265/45
215-245/50
195-215/55

all these sizes fall within the acceptable range of o.d. 245/50 will have the largest sidewall (comfort), while the 265/45 has the largest contact area.

Incomplete maybe but those 3 have the smallest % of change in the speedo.

anything within 3% is considered "acceptable". personally, it makes no difference to me. you gotta be pretty far off to see a difference of more than a few mph.

The actual sidewall height is relatively the same on all of these tire sizes.

They are, just like how 235/40/18 and 245/40/18 are relatively the same but many people like me go for the extra little sidewall for comfort.

Hmmm...I never really gave any thought to the extra comfort that .05" might provide. I'll have to look into that.
