Lug nut options

I currently have tuner lugs on my car, but i do not like them or the tool that it uses. The stock acorn nuts do not thread on much because of the 5mm spacer I have; but the tuner lugs get like twice as many threads in.

What options do I have?

Did you get longer studs with those spacers? I have 5mm up front too and they actually came with longer studs .. H&R's.

And yeah, OEM acorns suck.. Some nismos?

No. I was lookin at gorrilla lucks to match my gorilla locks but I can't find um for a good price.

Gorilla 61127/61128

I wanted to do longer studs but since the tuner lugs catch like 6-8 threads, I do not see the need.

Yeah, lugs are seriously, IMO, overpriced.

I'm not trying to spend over 30bucks on lugs. I'm sure they are nice and all, but I just need them to hold the wheel on lol

I agree that you don't need to spend $150 on lugs...HOWEVER...there are certain things IMHO, that you should NEVER skimp on. Brake components and lug nuts would be on that list. There are all kinds of dirt cheap lugs you can get, but I don't know if I would put any of them on my car.

Yea I know that, that's why I've been looking at Gorilla lugs and Mcgard

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/GOR-21132ET/ (I have 4 Gorilla wheel locks so I won't need 20 lugs total)
Might get those. It looks like it will catch a good amount of threads like the current hex lugs I have right now do

How can the tuner lug catch twice as many threads as the stock lugs? My stock lugs actually seated close to 1-2 threads deeper than my Kics Projects. If you have a spacer on the car, then you only have so many threads available, no matter which lugs you use. You're safest bet here is to get some extended studs, and go from there.

I dunno, the stock acorns don't catch as many threads on my wheel. I will try to get some pics today to show why. Yes, I know ultimately I need longer studs. But I don't have the time right now and my tuner lugs work fine but I hate the HEX tool and it is starting to strip.

I believe the hex part of the lug catches the rim thus not allowing it to catch as many threads. Since the tuner lug is slimmer, it gets in further (that's what she said )

The hex part SHOULD NOT be catching on the rim. Both are a 60 degree taper, so even if the "hat" on one of the lugs is wider, they should both seat the same depth into the rim...60 degrees is 60 degrees no matter how far the taper runs up the length of the lug. You may think the tuner lug is catching more threads, but I don't believe it could be.

I like my gorilla lug nuts, But for the set I believe they were around 30 bux. Discount tire acutally carries them in stock. The have the closed end and even the open end and all take the gorilla key.

By the "outside of the screw", I'm guessing you mean that you stripped the stud? If so, you will need to replace it.
